Blender out of the Ubuntu archive also saw some small gains from the experimental -O3 build.

The Python performance was helped in some areas with the -O3 packages.

Lastly the PHP packages with the experimental -O3 build did deliver some nice performance uplift.

The performance benefits vary depending upon your application(s) of interest, but every little bit helps in advancing the out-of-the-box performance of Ubuntu Linux. It will be very interesting to hear in the weeks ahead what Canonical decides to do regarding -O3 package optimizations and/or what other performance pursuits may come about for Ubuntu.
