Princess Cosmos (ใ‚ณใ‚นใƒขใ‚น๏ผˆใฒใ‚๏ผ‰ Kosumosu-hime) is a series of Galaxy Type monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel. First represented by "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" released in Burst Rex of Awakening, the series was properly established in Over Rush Pack 3.

Lore[edit]

The Princess's Games Rattle & Shake The Entire Universe

"Princess Cosmos" is a goddess who exults and celebrates freedom in a far-off universe. She picks up countless planets and plays with them as she pleases. The planets destroyed by her games and pranks are reborn as new planets, but even these worlds will be caught up in her games one day.

The "Cosmostar" That Bring The Princess & Planets Together

The "Cosmostar" are fairies that serve "Princess Cosmos". They hear the voices of planets, and tell their sad tales to "Princess Cosmos", but their prayers and wishes do not reach her, as she is unaware that the "Planetairy" actually exist and just sees them as mere stars and planets. Their wishes and prayers are in vain, as she plays with them as she pleases.[1]

Members[edit]

Cosmostar[edit]

The Cosmostar monsters are Level 10 Fusion Monsters whose Fusion Materials represent the combination of several planets (in this case, the Planetairy monsters) into a single new entity; a reference to the series' lore where a new planet is reborn after the destruction of other planets.

Planetairy[edit]

Planetairy is a pun on "planet" and "fairy". The monsters are named after the western names of the Solar System planets combined with flowers, their Levels correspond to the planet's distance from the Sun, and the Attributes are references to the planets' names in Japanese.

Playing style[edit]

Princess Cosmos is a Galaxy Type Deck focused on Fusion Summoning using the Graveyard in general and destroying cards on the field (both your opponent's and your own) to gain additional advantages. The Deck revolves around "Princess Cosmos the Trickster", "Jest of the Cosmos Princess", and cards that can take on the latter's name to perform combos.

The Fusion Monsters are the most important part of the Deck. Besides being superior to the average Level 9 Fusion Monster in Rush Duel and requiring generic Fusion Materials, they fulfill different roles. "Cosmostar the Black Hole Polairy" allows you to put pressure on your opponent by inflicting piercing battle damage and debuffing the ATK/DEF of their monsters. "Cosmostar the White Hole Polairy" allows you to Special Summon a Galaxy Type Fusion Monster with 1900 or 2600 DEF from the Graveyard and add "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" (or a card that can acquire its name in the Graveyard) to your hand. Finally, "Princess Cosmos the Cosmic Trickster" features an effect to destroy the entire field that can guarantee victory as long as 9 or more monsters have been used as Fusion Material for it.

Princess Cosmos has several ways to perform Fusion Summons with its own Deck's monsters: "Princess Cosmos the Trickster" allows Fusion Summons using the Graveyard and fulfilling the 9 Fusion Material requirement of "Princess Cosmos the Cosmic Trickster", at the cost of destroying one or more of your monsters on the field. Similarly, "Saturnchamomile the Planetairy" allows Fusion Summons using the field to bring out a Fusion Monster, preferably one of the Cosmostar monsters.

"Jest of the Cosmos Princess" is a fairly important Spell Card since, in addition to giving advantages in confrontations, it also allows the ease of bringing some of Planetairy's high-Level monsters. The cards that acquire the "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" name are the following:

  • The original "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" is a powerful Spell Card that allows you to clear your opponent's field, eliminating their monsters and backrow at a high cost, but this can be mitigated with its draw power under condition.
  • "Princess Cosmos Stirs" is a Fusion Spell Card that takes the name "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" only in the hand, preventing it from being retrieved by "Cosmostar the White Hole Polairy". However, it is another card that allows you to use the Graveyard to Fusion Summon a Fusion Monster.
  • "Princess Cosmos' Beauty Sleep" is a Trap Card that takes the name "Jest of the Cosmos Princess" in the hand and Graveyard, allowing you to give good defense by destroying a Normal Summoned monster to block your opponent's combos and give additional draw power.

Several Planetairy Monsters allow you to prepare your Graveyard, as many require destroying your own cards to activate their effects. "Mercissus the Planetairy" is one of the most important, as it allows you to excavate any Level 6 or higher Planetairy, as well as "Princess Cosmos the Trickster". "Princess Cosmos' Astronomical Observation" is an essential Spell Card for recovering any Level 5 or lower Planetairy from the Graveyard, allowing you to continue your plays or recover from a disadvantageous situation.

Despite being a Galaxy Type Deck, Princess Cosmos isn't very compatible with other Galaxy Type support, forcing you to use only cards that belong exclusively to that Deck. Furthermore, many of its cards are hard once per turn, meaning you can't abuse them and must choose the right moment to use them.
