AI Answer Visibility Monitor: Track Your Brand in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
Find out whether AI assistants name your brand when buyers ask questions in your category. This is an AI brand visibility tracker, also called GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), or AI SEO. It checks ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity, then reports how often each engine mentions you, which competitors it names instead, and which web pages it cited to build the answer.
Pay per check. No subscription. No prompt caps. You bring your own keys, so your AI usage stays free or near free, and you are never locked into a monthly contract.

What does this Actor do?
The AI Answer Visibility Monitor runs your buyer questions through real AI assistants and tells you if your brand shows up in the answers. For every question and every engine you pick, it returns a mention rate across multiple runs, a stability flag, your prominence, the competitors the AI named, the exact sources it cited, and one plain next step. One rated row per question, per engine.
How do I check if ChatGPT mentions my brand?
Enter your brand, a few questions your customers actually ask, and pick the OpenAI engine. The Actor sends each question to GPT-4o with live web search and checks whether ChatGPT names you. Because answers shift between runs, it runs each question several times and reports the percentage of runs that mentioned you, not a single misleading yes or no.
Can I compare ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity in one run?
Yes, and this is the feature most tools miss. Select two or three engines and the Actor checks the same questions across all of them, returning one row per engine so you can see exactly where you are visible and where you are invisible. A brand can be named by Perplexity every time and ignored by ChatGPT, and you only learn that by comparing them side by side.
Why does it run each question several times?
AI answers are volatile. The same question on the same model can name you one hour and skip you the next. A single check looks erratic and is easy to distrust. This Actor runs each question several times, reports a mention RATE as a percentage, and flags the result as stable or volatile, so you know how much to trust the number before you report it to a client or a boss.
What do I get back for each question?
- mention_rate_pct: the percentage of runs where the AI named your brand, the headline number
- stability: stable or volatile, so you know how reliable the result is
- times_mentioned / runs: for example, named in 2 of 3 runs
- avg_prominence: 1 to 100, how early and prominently your brand appears
- competitors_mentioned: the rival brands the AI named, auto-detected and cleaned of media sites and trim names
- ai_sources: the web pages the AI cited to build its answer, which are your citation targets
- recommended_action: one plain next step
- engine: which AI answered (gemini, openai, or perplexity)
Example output
{"brand":"Notion","query":"What is the best note-taking app in 2026?","engine":"perplexity","model":"perplexity/sonar","grounded":true,"runs":3,"mention_rate_pct":67,"times_mentioned":2,"stability":"volatile","avg_prominence":54,"competitors_mentioned":["Microsoft OneNote","Obsidian","Evernote"],"ai_sources":[{"title":"zapier.com","url":"https://zapier.com/..."},{"title":"pcmag.com","url":"https://pcmag.com/..."}],"recommended_action":"Inconsistent: named in 2 of 3 runs, so the AI is unsure about you. Strengthen authoritative content and target zapier.com, pcmag.com for citations. Watch Microsoft OneNote, who shows up against you.","sample_answer":"For note-taking in 2026, Notion remains a top all-in-one choice..."}
How much does it cost?
You pay about $0.05 per AI check plus a small actor start fee. Three runs of one question on one engine is three checks. There is no subscription and no prompt cap. Running 100 questions costs a few dollars, not the hundreds per month that subscription tools charge for a fraction of the volume.
Is this a Profound or Otterly alternative?
Yes. It answers the complaints people have about the expensive GEO tools, point by point.
| What people dislike about other GEO tools | What this Actor does |
|---|---|
| $300 to $500 a month subscriptions | No subscription, pay per check, cents each |
| Low prompt caps | No caps, run as many prompts as you want |
| About $10 per prompt on some plans | About $0.05 per AI check |
| A single yes or no that looks erratic | A mention RATE across runs plus a stability flag |
| A dashboard with no next step | A plain recommended_action and the exact cited sources |
| Locked-in SaaS that is hard to automate | API and MCP native, drops into any workflow |
| Tracks one AI model only | Compares Gemini, OpenAI, and Perplexity side by side |
Do I need an API key?
Gemini needs a free key from aistudio.google.com (no credit card). OpenAI and Perplexity both run through one OpenRouter key from openrouter.ai, where a small top-up covers thousands of checks. You bring your own keys so your usage stays yours and we never bill you for it. No key at all still runs a labelled demo so you can see the output format first.
Can AI agents call this as an MCP server?
Yes. This Actor works as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so agents like Claude and ChatGPT can call it directly to check brand visibility with no human involved. It is built for automated GEO monitoring inside an agent workflow, and the JSON output is clean and ready to parse.
Who is this for?
Marketers and GEO or AEO agencies reporting AI visibility to clients. Founders checking whether AI recommends them or a competitor. Developers and AI agents that need GEO data through an API, not a dashboard.
FAQ
Is my API key stored? No. You pass it as a run input. It is used for that run and not retained by us.
Does this change what the AI says about me? No. It is a monitoring and measurement tool. It reports what AI assistants answer at query time, it does not alter their answers.
How accurate are the competitor names? They are auto-detected from the answer text and cleaned of media sites and product trim names, then labelled as possible competitors. They are a strong signal, not a manually verified list.
Can I schedule it? Yes. Use the Apify scheduler to run it daily or weekly and track movement over time.
Which questions should I enter? The real ones your buyers ask an AI, like "What is the best X?", "Which Y should I use?", and "What should I use instead of Z?".
Important
This is a data and monitoring tool. AI answers vary between runs, which is real and which is exactly why we report a rate across multiple runs. Competitor names are auto-detected and labelled as such, not manually verified.
