The U.S. negotiating team during the trilateral Ukrainian-U.S.-Russian talks in Abu Dhabi (UAE), which took place on February 4 and 5, took the initiative to repeat the so-called "energy truce" that is, to stop mutual strikes on energy facilities. The Russian side promised to return to this issue, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, following the statement of the Ukrainian delegation.

"The American side has again come up with an initiative to de-escalate energy strikes now, during the negotiations and during these cold days. We said that we are ready not to strike at energy if we are not struck. We are ready to accept this if the Russians also accept it as they did last time. Last time they confirmed it. We did receive information – public, from the media," Zelenskyy told reporters.

"At the end of the meeting [in Abu Dhabi] they [the U.S. side] said: let's try again. The Russians said: we will return," the president added.

According to him, the previous "energy truce" lasted less than a week, which is explained by the fact that the Americans proposed to meet after a certain time and during this time before the meeting not to strike at energy. "Then the meeting had to be postponed because of Iran. The American side said: let's choose another date. They suggested postponing the meeting for a few days. And we told them: but you are the one postponing the meeting, so from meeting to meeting there should be exactly the ceasefire that they talked about. They said that's how we understand it – a week. But the Russians did it until last Monday. There was a total of less than 4 days of this ceasefire. That is, it is not a fact that it will happen now," Zelenskyy said.
