Regions sending autonomous power generation units, passenger buses to Odesa, with first 10 already on their way from Kyiv region
Restoration work continues in Odesa, with additional autonomous power generation units and diesel-powered city buses being brought in from other regions. Some residential buildings in the city are already powered by generators, according to Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Presidentβs Office of Ukraine.
"Additional autonomous power generation units have been sent to Odesa from other regions to help power the infrastructure. Repair crews are ready to travel from other regions upon request," he wrote on Telegram on Wednesday.
Mykyta also announced that he had ordered additional diesel passenger city buses to be sent to Odesa for temporary use and passenger transportation until trolleybus service is restored. According to him, the first 10 buses are already en route from Kyiv region
According to Mykyta, individual buildings in residential areas of the city are already being supplied with generators. This provides heat and water to their apartments. Meanwhile, the main focus is on restoring damaged infrastructure. Soon, heat will be restored to all homes.
More than 340 emergency shelters and 20 warming stations have been deployed throughout the city.
As reported earlier in the day, following the shelling of the power grid on the night of February 15, power was fully or partially restored to 60,500 families in Odesa region. Currently, 99,000 consumers remain without power supply.
