Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported holding a meeting on road repairs with Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba and Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development Serhiy Sukhomlyn.

"Following the meeting, we will allocate an additional UAH 3 billion from the state budget's reserve fund to ensure pothole repairs on roads in frontline regions and on public roads of national importance with high traffic intensity," Svyrydenko said on Telegram on Wednesday evening after the meeting.

According to her, pothole repairs of road surfaces on international and national highways have already begun, including in frontline regions. "This is not about capital repairs, but about basic safety and passability. Weather conditions allow repair teams to work. The repairs will be completed by June 1," the head of government said.

Svyrydenko said roads are an issue of effective logistics for the Defense Forces, evacuation of the wounded, as well as supporting the economy and the life of communities.

On March 2, Svyrydenko said that current repairs of public roads had started in Ukraine. According to her, priority restoration of road surfaces with a total area of more than 3.5 million square meters is being carried out. In particular, this concerns not capital repairs but operational surface repairs on priority sections where weather conditions already allow work.

Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba said Ukraine currently has resources amounting to UAH 12.6 billion for road restoration, but this is not enough. "We need to correct the mistake and speak about roads exclusively, as we do now, as an element of military logistics, an element of helping our people and evacuation, and therefore we will request mandatory resources for frontline roads," he said at a briefing following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the Comprehensive Resilience Plan for Ukrainian cities and regions on Tuesday.

Kuleba said the volume of repair work on road sections for 2026 is set at 1 million square meters. Currently, the number of crews working on road repairs is over 1,000.
