Zelenskyy, Romanian PM discuss defense, energy support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to discuss defense assistance and energy cooperation.
"We discussed defense support. I thank Romania for its military assistance and contributions to the PURL program. Strengthening air defense remains a priority for Ukraine," Zelenskyy said on his Telegram channel following the meeting.
The president stressed the importance of developing the energy network between Ukraine and Romania, which could help Ukraine address shortages caused by ongoing Russian strikes on its energy infrastructure and could also benefit Romania when Ukraine has surplus electricity and is able to export power.
Therefore, cooperation in the energy sector was among the key topics of the discussion, Zelenskyy said.
"Special attention was also paid to expanding border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania. We discussed work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint control at checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Romanian border," the president said.
