Request to identify Iran as a military dictatorship in infobox
[edit]Iβd like to request that Iran be identified as a unitary Islamic presidential republic under an authoritarian military dictatorship, given that since the 2026 Iran war, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have effectively seized political control per multiple established media outlets. A recent report from Reuters explaining that such power is concentrated through the Supreme National Security Council, which corroborates that itβs indeed the most politically critical wartime institution, given that its previous secretary, Ali Larijani, was seen seen as Iranβs latest de facto leader before his death. Update request for the Religion section (Secular shift, mosque closures, and growth of Christianity)

Hello, I would like to propose a neutral, well-sourced addition to the "Religion" section to provide a more comprehensive and up-to-date picture of the religious landscape in Iran. Currently, the article relies heavily on official numbers and the CIA Factbook (stating 90β95% adherence to Twelver Shia Islam). However, recent independent academic data, sociological studies, and statements from Iranian officials indicate a significant shift in religious adherence, characterized by rapid secularization and the growth of underground Christian communities. I propose adding the following paragraph right after the CIA Factbook sentence:

- Sorry. I still think this is a very important topic to add. Hereβs the updated and double-checked version. All citations have been verified and link directly to the articles:
- However, independent studies and state reports show a decline in active Shia religious practice in Iran, alongside a rise in underground religious movements. A 2020 GAMAAN survey found that only 32% of participants identified as Twelver Shia, that indicates a secularization of the Iranian society.[4]
- In 2023, senior cleric Mohammad Abolghassem Doulabi noted that roughly 50,000 of the country's 75,000 mosques had to close down because of a severe decline in attendance. [5] This trend was supported by statements by the Minister of Culture Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili.[6]
- Iran's underground evangelical house churches, largely composed of converts from Muslim backgrounds, constitute one of the world's fastest-growing Christian communities. A 2020 GAMAAN study estimates that Christians comprise approximately 1.5% of the population.[7]
