Merge MCD:Drowned and MCD:Trident Drowned under the name "MCD:Drowned".

MCD:Drowned and MCD:Trident Drowned should be merged under the name "MCD:Drowned". Unlike piglins and piglin hunters, which are two distinct mobs, trident drowned are just drowned. The game does not treat drowned wielding tridents as their own mob. Lord (talk) 09:23, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

Agreed. This makes sense. The Trident drowned must simply be a variant of the drowned, just like the variants of skeletons and zombies. -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  14:10, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

Oppose The trident drowned is the ranged version of the drowned, meaning it should have its own page just like how the withered skeleton archer has a separate page to wither skeletons. Or alternatively, all ranged/melee mob variants should be merged into one page. SeaOfPixels (talk) 12:03, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
That is not how it works. The reason why armored mobs were merged with non-armored mobs is because armored mobs do not exist. They are just variants of other mobs and the game treats them as the same mob. Piglin hunters are treated as their own mobs by the game. But trident drowned are not. They are the EXACT SAME mob as drowned without tridents and should therefore be merged with MCD:Drowned under the latter's name. I do not know what the case is for wither skeleton archers. I will look into it. If it turns out that the game treats wither skeleton archers as separate mobs from wither skeletons, they should have their own article. If wither skeleton archers do not exist and they are just wither skeletons according to the game, MCD:Wither Skeleton and MCD:Wither Skeleton Archer should also be merged. We need to be accurate, even if the game is inconsistent. Lord (talk) 12:14, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Also, no, it is not the ranged version of the drowned, not exclusively. It has a melee attack. Lord (talk) 19:20, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

 Oppose - As per SeaOfPixels's above reasoning.Drour1234 (talk) 16:37, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Please, read my reply to SeaOfPixels. Lord (talk) 19:02, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
I did read that and I still agree with SeaOfPixels.Drour1234 (talk) 20:23, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
But they are wrong. We need to be accurate, even if the game is inconsistent. Please, look at the screenshots provided. Lord (talk) 01:32, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
An additional point that I did not include in my reply to SeaOfPixels is that MCD:Trident Drowned being an article separate from MCD:Drowned is as if MCD:Eyesent or MCD:Enchanted Endersent was an article separate from MCD:Endersent. It would not make any sense, would it? The only reason why MCD:Piglin Hunter is separate from MCD:Piglin is because the game recognizes piglins wielding crossbows as their own mob, distinct from melee piglins. I do not know if the game consider wither skeleton archers their own mob or not, I have to look into it, but I am 100% confident that drowned wielding tridents are just drowned and should not have their own article. Lord (talk) 19:14, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
The game files treats Trident Drowned and Wither Skeleton Archers as separate mobs from Drowned and Wither Skeletons. The enchanted Endersent are actually distinct characters with names, not mobs (they also cannot be fought again even when replaying missions). They could probably get their own pages, but no one has made such a proposal yet.Drour1234 (talk) 20:23, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
No, the game files do not treat trident drowned as separate mobs. I checked. I would appreciate that you provide the files that you speak of, please. Lord (talk) 01:31, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
I think the point is that it doesn't actually matter what the game files says in this case. If we merged and split only based on that then things would get messy very quickly. We should merge and split based on what is most useful to readers. If we agree that it is most useful for melee piglins and ranged piglins to be split, we agree that it is most useful for melee drowned and ranged drowned to be split, and vice versa. - Harristic / Talk 👁 Image

It would not really get messy. Based on the names of enchanted mobs we can deduce that trident drowned and drowned are the same mob, so we merge both pages. In the case of piglins and piglin hunters, as the second screenshot shows, "enchanted piglin hunter", so we do not merge those. I do not know about wither skeletons, but once we get confirmation on that, we either merge or do not merge accordingly. It is simple, it is accurate, which is the most important thing, and it should not be a problem. The game is inconsistent? Yes. Do we have to be accurate? Yes. Not merging MCD:Trident Drowned with MCD:Drowned under the latter's name is a mistake, I am confident of that. We do not want another "armored mob" situation. We were advertising mob tiers as their own separate mobs, which is completely incorrect. This is similar. Being useful to readers is important, yes, but the readers better be reading accurate information. Trident drowned do not exist. They are just drowned according to the game. Six variants. Three tiers, each with a trident wielding variant. Nothing more. Lord (talk) 01:41, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
