Should Alex be referred to as a female?

This one should be quite obvious, considering that the Minecraft community, and alongside the movie (at the cutscene) portray her as female instead of "they". 2601:182:81:36B0:EDF8:F2F9:EEF2:35EE 17:18, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Support, the same point stands for Steve. Rogerio980Pizzaa (talk) 17:34, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- While the movie version of Steve is actually referred to as male in both the film and the novel, the game version is not referred to by any genders or pronouns. The movie version of Alex isn’t given any gender or pronouns yet.Drour1234 (talk) 18:28, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- the movie is not getting a sequel, and considering the fact that she is portrayed by a woman, I don’t think its nothing absurd to list her as female. Rogerio980Pizzaa (talk) 19:00, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- How do you know it's not getting a sequel? How does that factor in them being female? Besides, the actor's gender identity has little to do with their character's identity, several trans women get portrayed by cis men in media (unfortunately), and sveral actors portray people not of their ethnicity, for that matter. - I seem some verified pages posting about how the movie is not getting a sequel and that they would focus on the game, could be wrong tho.
- And yea you’re right about the other points, I was only saying that its not absurd to presume the character is female given that she is played by a woman. Rogerio980Pizzaa (talk) 19:06, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- What "verified pages"? Gwen Stacy (talk) 19:08, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- I believe it was DiscussingFilms on twitter, that page is usually reliable.
- But I went to search and apparently the movie is already getting a sequel lol, so I stand corrected. Rogerio980Pizzaa (talk) 19:11, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Officially, no. Alex is not (currently) female. I personally consider her a girl, I doubt anyone would get mad about it, but the intention was for Alex to be androgynous. Same with all the other characters. The movie's Alex is just a version of the character who happens to be a woman, not the definitive explanation for who she is. Lydia even talked about how she makes sure Steve and Alex aren't gendered. Realshow19 (talk) 17:36, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- The movie version of Alex isn’t given any pronouns or a gender yet and we shouldn’t assume such information.Drour1234 (talk) 18:28, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Realshow19 (talk) 18:29, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
Major historical inaccuracy: Why is Alex's skin in the historical section using their current textures?

Genuinely I am so confused
This has occurred globally across the wiki (including pretty much any page that has alex's skin in it) and i am so surprised that no one has noticed this until just now TwT Block place1232 (talk) 15:08, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
- It’s because of the Alex.png redirect, there was only the one design until the rest of the gang were added and the redesign doesn’t look very different in a table. Realshow19 (talk) 15:15, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
