Update 1.2 is confirmed as the Better Together Update, set to release later this year. Apart from bringing many versions of Minecraft together, it also adds fireworks, stained glass and armor stands. This article should not be deleted as it has relevance. Natejb2003 (talk) 20:13, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Please note the title of this page is temporary until there is a community consensus as to what the new Minecraft versions should be named. Further discussion at the Renaming Project. โGoandgoo แธ Talk

"/tp @s ^ ^ ^1.2" โ @slicedlime on X (formerly Twitter), June 20, 2017
Slicedlime (a Mojang employee working on the Bedrock edition of Minecraft), tweeted this. It's very very likely for the next update (notice the 1.2, for PE/Bedrock 1.2). I didn't update the page myself because I know the Wiki doesn't like speculation (for good reasons), so I thought I would ask her first. People are talking about it being for raycasting (so the axes of the 3 ^ coordinates will depend on where the player is looking instead of being static), but that seems to be pure speculation since I couldn't find a proper source for it. --Pepijn (talk) 21:16, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay I am very confused with the use of "Summer" and "Fall" as I am in the southern hemisphere. I don't know how to fix this as I do not know if USA seasons begin on equinoxes or not. Can someone please make this less ambiguous? โ Nixinova โข ๐ Image

There appears to be an edit war on the header. My suggestion is to remove the "first release" part until 1.2.1 is planned or released. The Blobs๐ Image

Does anyone know how long the certification process usually takes? 75.60.247.50 14:41, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
It is already released, but the page says that it will release tomorrow. โ Dentedharp90041tce 18:43, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Since this version is also available on Xbox, it is no longer specifically Pocket Edition. The merged version is called the Bedrock Edition. The Blobs๐ Image

The infobox has a "View all" link that's apparently (per the edit summary) supposed to point to "Bedrock Edition 1.2/Development versions: Bedrock Edition", but that is not a valid page name because of the ":". It now generates a Lua error "Lua error in Module:Development_versions at line 36: attempt to index a nil value." I have no idea how this should be fixed.
In addition, the "Other editions of 1.2" section lists Pocket Edition, which links to Pocket Edition 1.2, which is a redirect right back to this page. Should this be removed, or is it being used as a placeholder for a replacement Pocket Edition 1.2 page? --โ Auldrick (talk ยท contribs) 22:58, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
Fixed some grammar: 1.2, also known as the Better Together Update, was a major update to Pocket Edition that renamed it to simply Minecraft, added support for the Xbox One, introduced cross-platform gameplay, and leapt the game much closer to feature parity with the Java Edition. It was released on September 20, 2017, although the full rollout took a few days due to a large number of distribution channels and target devices involved. Support for the Nintendo Switch was also added to the game, however, it was not deployed to that platform initially due to problems with cross-device connectivity and upgrading of old worlds. The target date for Switch deployment was postponed until sometime around the end of the year.
This update represented an important advance in the history of computer gaming in that it extended crossplay (short for cross-platform gameplay, the ability of players on different platforms to play interactively in the same world) to virtually all of the newest-generation gaming platforms. Previously, the Pocket Edition had supported crossplay between mobile, Windows 10, and VR platforms. This update added support for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, drastically increasing the number of devices that could participate.
The updated game was also designed to work with the Sony PlayStation 4, but Sony declined to participate at this time. Microsoft said that it was in ongoing talks with Sony about a possible future agreement. Microsoft also stated that it will consider porting this update to Macintosh, Linux, or any other platform with sufficiently strong demand, further expanding the crossplay concept.
With the unification of so many different platforms under one version of the game, the former nickname and epithet "Pocket Edition" became even more outdated than it had been. Henceforth Microsoft intends to refer to this version as the "Bedrock Engine" or "Bedrock Edition" when it's necessary to distinguish it from versions for non-crossplaying platforms or from the larger game-as-a-whole concept. (The "bedrock" part comes from the internal name for its source code database.) Unlike the editions for other platforms, this nickname will not be included as a subtitle in the new official name of the version, which is the generic Minecraft to emphasize its broad range of supported devices. The original Java version of Minecraft, which formerly held that name, was officially renamed to Minecraft: Java Edition in keeping with its platform specificity.

Despite the fact that the version has been released, the sections "Planned Additions" and "Planned Changes" still exist. Does anyone know why this is? The Blobs๐ Image

@Auldrick and MinecraftPhotos4U: nowhere in the site rules or guidelines is it mentioned that changelogs are to be copied verbatim; as an example, it has been pretty much conclusively decided that particularly low quality issue titles, even if referenced as is by a snapshot announcement, may be edited.
The concern I have is with the bug list's heterogeneity if one issue is listed using a template with a link to the bug tracker while all others are plain text only. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 18:35, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
