Fishing

[edit source]
Latest comment: 11 May 20202 comments2 people in discussion

What does this sentence mean in the article? "Players can catch a fish mob, guardian, elder guardian, squid, or boat when fishing." I fished a few times, but only got items. Is it supposed to mean that an elder guardian can jump towards you instead of an item? Fabian42 (talk) 17:18, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

@Fabian42 I did not expect to go fishing, pull on a bite, and have a boat fly towards me, landing on the beach. When I hooked a squid, it simply spawned a squid where the bob was floating--it did not drag it towards me. So if it is a live mob, it may just spawn it at the bob in the water instead of sending it flying towards you. 67.240.52.121 19:00, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Lighting?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 8 May 20202 comments2 people in discussion

"The lighting system between buffet worlds and unique dimensions is different. In the Overworld there can be darkness, while in the Easter Egg generated dimension there can not be (i.e. "fleet" (minecraft:between) and "shapes" (minecraft:shapes))." What is this supposed to mean? --Brmiller50 (talk) 10:34, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

It's probably another way of saying that the day/night cycle has different speeds. So you can have it be day in one dimension and night in another. I didn't test that myself and didn't pay attention to it in Panda's streams, so I don't know if that's actually true or if only the sky is affected by the day/night cycle speed. Fabian42 (talk) 13:48, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

/warp /b/ sends you to shapes. Not sure if anyone cares.

abatised redivides

[edit source]

You go to true The End, like the_end_portal, if used on random dimensions you go to The End on absulute position.

Are hard-coded dimensions more common?

I randomly got the "shapes" dimension by getting books from the Box of Infinite Books. Are they, by any chance, rarer (or not)? TheRealPodajnik (talk) 15:21, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Dimensions are per-seed

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 April 20212 comments2 people in discussion

The Trivia section makes many claims about dimension features that can be found by visiting specific dimensions; however, these dimensions are only replicable on the same seed. I think the dimensions named in the Trivia section should be removed. KDNX (talk) 21:12, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Go for it. Trivia sections shouldn't be dumping grounds for indiscriminate or irrelevant information. Amatulic (talk) 21:35, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Random dimensions are the same across world seeds

[edit source]
Latest comment: 16 December 20222 comments2 people in discussion

No matter which seed I am in, the dimensions are always the same. If you don't believe me, ask other people who have played this snapshot.

I played it, and couldn't replicate the dimensions shown previously on the page. KDNX (talk) 02:32, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
The dimensions are always the same. You can try bty creating two different worlds. Only you might be on a different biome. Just as the overworld is always the same dimension. 186.139.151.202 01:52, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Dimensions are case-sensitive

[edit source]
Latest comment: 16 June 20211 comment1 person in discussion

The randomly generated and Easter Egg dimensions are case-sensitive. For example, the text "Fleet" gives you a different dimension than the text "fleet".--71.114.45.13 18:08, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Changes in the data

[edit source]
Latest comment: 26 July 20236 comments3 people in discussion

There was a time when the very same 20w14∞ was updated to allow greater generation height and the addition of deepslate (from more recent updates). Then this was reverted. I have a copy of worlds created with this update if anyone cares to have the saves and check for themselves. The version of 20w14∞ on the Minecraft server was changed several times, even months after release. This can be checked very easily even: When this update was released there was no extra 1.16 nether biomes, which also were added in after a more recent main branch update. Additionally, the Hoglin mob, which is currently implemented, was added at a later update. 186.139.151.202 01:52, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Please don't spread misinformation on the wiki. ManosSef (talk) 14:43, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
It's not misinformation. You can see the last changed date in the Java files by downloading the version yourself and opening the corresponding file folder on your PC. Restoring. – Unsigned comment added by NimoStar (talkcontribs) at 20:08, 23 July 2023 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~
Removed once again. There is no such tag in the launcher file. The version manifest is updated every single time Mojang releases any new snapshot. You just happened to last update that specific version on February 25, 2022. The jar file for the version never changed, therefore Mojang never changed anything about the version. Once again, stop spreading misinformation on the wiki. ManosSef (talk) 21:24, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
That is not true. The jar file for the version did change. I didn't update on February 25, 2022, I played it in 2023. I have different version of the jar file stored. Once again, stop removing info that anyone can check is true. I am a modder of several games, I even made a texturepack for Minecraft. Do you want me to provide the different file? Will you them be satisfied? – Unsigned comment added by NimoStar (talkcontribs) at 03:43, 26 July 2023 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~
I re-downloaded the version just yesterday completely from scratch, and it is the same exact file that Mojang released on April 1, 2020. The Omniarchive team, which is the biggest archiving team for Minecraft, has coded large tools for this, and they can detect every single change that happens in Mojang's assets and version files. That being said, I spoke to them about this issue, and they are absolutely adamant that you are spreading misinformation. I would be very interested in you providing the two different versions of the file, so I can compare them for myself and see if I find any differences.
"I am a modder of several games" That does not tell me anything.
"I even made a texturepack for Minecraft" Anyone with barely any understanding of the technical aspect of Minecraft can do that.

I'm just tired of all links in the april fools pages that talk about 20w14~ going to a stupid "World Generation" Subheading 1 even if they are pointing to a specific dimension or biome info, etc. The point is that you can create other pages to these dimensions or simply link to joke biomes. These are only examples. View the "jokes" template and see how organized it is for 23w13a_or_b. Note that all the custom dimensions for 20w14~ link all to World Generation.

Sorry for my english

Mystcraft inspiration?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 January 20251 comment1 person in discussion

As the "other portal" in the April Fools' 2023 snapshot shows, Mojang's evidently willing to reference mods for their April Fools' jokes. Given that, is the commonality of custom dimensions + traveling to them based on the contents of a book sufficient grounds to mention the mod Mystcraft (or even Myst itself) in the Trivia section for this one? It's possible it's too much of a deep cut (Aether was extremely popular, after all), but the resemblance was striking enough I figured I'd at least mention it. Missing trivia! When you count 7 up from the bottom of the books in the new dimension’s end ships, it says “ discover Minecraft 3D:lost floppies” the fact these are in alphabetical order truly introduces deepest lore.
