Link to Bars in {{Navbox blocks}}

[edit source]
Latest comment: 3 October 20254 comments2 people in discussion

The link to Bars in Template:Blocks was already correct when I put the link in. The in game name is plural as with Stairs, which Stairs in {{Blocks}} points to. Bar is a completely different page which is a disambiguation. Bars is the correct target for a page covering Iron Bars and Copper Bars, but the wiki has not standardized the overview of the "bars" block shape yet as with Door, or Pressure Plate.

When the overview page "Bars" is created, there would be an extra link in Bar to link to the overview of the "bars" block shape at Bars. As such, the link target in {{Blocks}} should be left as Bars. Delvin4519 (talk) 01:16, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

Bars currently redirects to Bar though, since Bars hasn't been split. I was just changing it to a direct link. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 01:22, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
I don't think Bars should have its own page since it was done before and was changed back to a redirect due to being redundant. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 01:30, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
That was because it was a disambiguation page and not an overview page like with Stairs. We don't need 2 disambiguation pages. If it was formatted like Stairs when it was created, the page would have stayed. Delvin4519 (talk) 01:35, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

'Wooden Chests' > 'Chests' in Copper Golem Summary

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 October 20253 comments2 people in discussion

The reason I specified 'wooden chests' in the copper golem summary was to make it absolutely, unambiguously clear that the golem only puts items into wooden chests. Not copper chests. Not ender chests. Just wooden chests and nothing else. Even if it's technically slightly more correct, saying just 'chests' isn't as crystal-clear about the mechanics as 'wooden chests' is, when the purpose of a wiki is to explain things in an understandable way.

So: can I add 'wooden chests' back in, please? Batbrain55 (talk) 20:05, 5 October 2025 (UTC)

@Tyrt changed it from wooden chest to chest, I just changed the link after they did that. πŸ‘ Image

Never mind, I just checked in-game. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 03:25, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
In-game it's not really noticeable, since I'm not sure whether it's render culling or simply not defined. But when I looked at the source code for east-west panes, there really isn't a texture defined for the east-west faces.Txt_3190 T C 03:36, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
The glass panes middle pole is weird in this version, too, like when I go under the top rotation changes when I go back up until I place blocks nearby. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 03:46, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
I think this is just Z-fighting.Txt_3190 T C 03:56, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
By decompiling 13w41a.jar, in method boolean k(ahp ahp2, int n2, int n3, int n4) of the class bkp (where build block render model), The side faces are only existed when there are no blocks besides it. Because EW direction stained glass pane needs blocks on its west and east sides, there is no side face on it. Weipolix (talk) 03:43, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
The renders also need to be rotated 180 degrees to be the same rotation in-game compared to other blocks. πŸ‘ Image

True. Blocks are fine in small amounts but they can get annoying when they are numerous. That's why I decided it's about time we take action. I'm already working on a petition to get Mojang to reduce the number of blocks in the game- both in variety and quantity. Life was better back in the Cave Game tech demo, I decided. In addition, I'm hoping we can get this wiki's Style Guide to limit the amount that square templates can be used on pages or to perhaps curve the corners of message/info box templates. I hope we at the Anti-Excess of Blocks Foundation can make a positive change in our society. πŸ‘ Image

'default tint'

[edit source]
Latest comment: 17 December 202510 comments2 people in discussion

ok it seems there's some disagreement here. But from what I can see, renders using an ocean biome tint are usually kept separate from renders like those with JEx_BEy, and those are generally shown with the item colour tint, eg:

and

Following this pattern, File:Fern_JE6.png would be expected to use the item colour tint.

Ironically, File:Oak_Leaves.png(along with other leaves that clearly should be
 #48B518
) is also listed under Item colors, even though it is not actually using the item colour. Txt_3190 T C 14:19, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

It usually uses the ocean biome tint since the default image is used for the default tint in the block colors page. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 21:23, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
It usually uses the item colour tint since the default image is used for the Fern#History and Java_Edition_block_render_history/Fern.
Also isn't the Block colors page mainly meant to show biome based tinting? where does this idea of a 'default' come from? I'm not sure why ocean would be treated as the default here. Txt_3190 T C 05:05, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Ocean uses the default tint. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 12:42, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Why ocean? Why not taiga, plains, meadow, desert, or badlands? No reason has been given so far. This is begging the question. Txt_3190 T C 14:43, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
The ocean tint is the same as the void tint, which is used for renders. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 21:22, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Uh, as far as I know, renders always use the item colour tint eg πŸ‘ Image

πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image

πŸ‘ Image
πŸ‘ Image
.
But now I don't care whether ocean is used or not, I respect your opinion, or even if it's actually a consensus (even though nobody has pointed me to any discussion so far, idk). But anyway, File:Fern_JE6.png should use the item colour, because it's used in the history and render history, like I said before, the other renders there are all item colour. An ocean biome tinted fern, if needed, should be uploaded separately as File:Fern.png, I've already explained the reasoning for this clearly.Txt_3190 T C 04:47, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
I still doubt whether ocean biome tint should be treated as the default.
  • First, as I have already said, images using ocean biome tint are misused on the item colors page.
  • Second, in the ocean row on Block colors, there are renders that actually use item colour tint. In other words, that row includes both ocean biome tinted renders and item colour tinted renders, so the use of 'ocean' there is not even consistent.
  • Third, similar blocks such as Tall Grass, Large Fern, and the newly added Bush all use item colour rather than ocean biome colour.
  • Fourth, I still have not seen where the consensus for doing this comes from, while using item colour is a clear and established consensus.
All of this makes me seriously doubt that ocean biome tint should be treated as any kind of default. Txt_3190 T C 05:12, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
There's also some blocks where the inventory tint doesn't match any biome tints it has. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 13:24, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Of course the item colour doesn't match, that's well known. what I'm more curious about is why it has to match at all, and even if it does, why it has to be ocean.Txt_3190 T C 14:55, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Flowers

[edit source]
Latest comment: 31 December 20253 comments2 people in discussion

The idea I had behind adding the larger textures for flowers was so people can see a larger version of the flower on a 2D scale, due to the fact that the invicon's are 16px by 16px and are too small to see when clicked on. Which is why I don't see a problem with it, so are you able to clarify what is the issue with the larger texture images Aventic (talk) 02:19, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

You should discuss adding the textures on the Community portal first to see if other people want it, since we don't usually add textures unless it's an item, plus there's already a page listing the textures. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 02:24, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
I think they should only be added if the item form has a different texture than the block, like bamboo. πŸ‘ Image

Why did you change the size to 21? It was fine at 20, which is the biggest it is supposed to be according to MCW:SIGN. πŸ‘ Image

You are only supposed to have it at 20px or less or it breaks the rules of MCW:SIGN, also your signature is somehow broken and not letting me reply, so that also needs fixed also you forgot the time. I also don't think even works for images. πŸ‘ Image

Lava Chicken edit

[edit source]
Latest comment: 10 February7 comments3 people in discussion

So I see the reversion of the edit specifying that Hyper Potion's rendition of the track is a cover and not a remix. This is factually true and legally distinct. A remix is defined in US copyright law as a "recombination and manipulation of audio tracks or channels from a preexisting sound recording to produce a new or modified sound recording", see Chapter 800 of The Compendium of U.S. Copyright Office Practices, subsection 803.6(B)(2); remixes fall under 17 U.S.C Β§ 103(a). A cover of a song is performance of any arrangement, ranging from faithful to transformative, that uses none of the original audio, so long as nothing that was added changes the work into a derivative. Covers fall under 17 U.S.C. Β§ 115(a)(2).

Do note that Hyper Potions also legally did not write the song; Ian Tsuchira is listed nowhere on the composers of Steve's Lava Chicken if you were to look up the song's listing on a repertory site like ASCAP's.

I do ask why you feel that this is false information. – Unsigned comment added by ~2026-OcelotWardenSand2276 (talk β€’ contribs) at 04:40, 10 February 2026 (UTC). Please sign comments with ~~~~

Then just change remix to cover and keep the rest the same, because Hyper Potions made Lava Chicken, Jack Black and Jared Hess made Steve's Lava Chicken. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 04:44, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
Perhaps you don't understand that the track's name is Lava Chicken, while the fundamental song underlying is named "Steve's Lava Chicken." Hyper Potions made the track called "Lava Chicken" that is a cover of the song "Steve's Lava Chicken." It is still legally incorrect to say Hyper Potions songwrote "Lava Chicken" and would get them into legal trouble were he to claim this.

(talk page stalker) Within the context of Minecraft, Hyper Potions is cited as the creator of the Music disc, like C418 and the other ones for the other discs, in the tooltips. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 06:47, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
I am specifically referring to the meta information of the real-world track and composition, not necessarily any in-game information. Hyper Potions cannot legally be the songwriter as what he's created is a derivative work, as defined in 17 U.S.C. Β§ 101 and elaborated on in 17 U.S.C. Β§ 103.
> A β€œderivative work” is a work based upon one or more preexisting works, such as a translation, musical arrangement, dramatization, fictionalization, motion picture version, sound recording, art reproduction, abridgment, condensation, or any other form in which a work may be recast, transformed, or adapted. A work consisting of editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications, which, as a whole, represent an original work of authorship, is a β€œderivative work”. (101)
> The subject matter of copyright as specified by section 102 includes compilations and derivative works, but protection for a work employing preexisting material in which copyright subsists does not extend to any part of the work in which such material has been used unlawfully. (103(a))
C418 is both the in-game creator of the music discs in Minecraft AND the real-life composer of the songs that have been published as tracks used in said in-game music discs. Hyper Potions is the former, not the latter. He should more accurately be credited as the arranger.
Also of note that changing the title of a song does not necessarily mean it's a different composition entirely. One example is the song "Love you Inside Out" by the Bee Gees, written by the Gibb brothers; the artist Feist made a cover of the song titled "Inside and Out" which is fundamentally the same song and has songwriting credit attributed to the Gibb brothers and not to Feist. ~2026-OcelotWardenSand2276 (talk) 07:20, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
The page Music Disc Lava Chicken is about the music disc, not the soundtrack. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 07:22, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
If you scroll down the page to the track description you can clearly see that it is describing the track as a real-world composition. The infobox clearly states the label is Microsoft Studios Music. Clearly the wiki page has more info about the real world and not confined to in-game info. ~2026-OcelotWardenSand2276 (talk) 07:24, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

If you want to make the model yourself, you can 3D export it using a structure block, convert it to a readable format, and then remake it in Blockbench or whatever you use to render. πŸ‘ Image

Kind of forgot about it, here's the code for the file:
I used Blockbench to make it, and it was saved as a .bbmodel file. I'm not sure if there's a better way to share it so I just pasted it here. πŸ‘ Image

Cobblestone Wall Asset History and History Table

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 February4 comments3 people in discussion

First things first, the asset history page is just fine, and if you are saying it's missing the excess renders then oh well, because it has the needed renders and anything else is just excess. Second, the "draft" you linked isn't anywhere near being done and I can't even say it qualifies as a draft. The page is no-where near done, the table stretches off the side of the screen, and doesn't seem to have been touched in a while. Thirdly, as for the history table on the cobblestone wall page, there are several people who called it excessive to have all of the renders there, including Mudscape and Nixinova who are admins. Electric Dragon (talk) 05:05, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

The asset history isn't just supposed to have necessities, it's supposed to document every change with the block and all its block states. πŸ‘ Image
NmF (talk) 05:12, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Mudscape said otherwise; "We really don't need a render for every single block state" Electric Dragon (talk) 05:16, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) About the draft part, drafts aren't supposed to be done already, drafts by definition are WIPs. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 05:52, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

About File:Cobblestone_Wall_(EWU)_BE1.png

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 April11 comments3 people in discussion

This file is basically the same as File:Cobblestone_Wall_(EWU)_JE1.png. Because the tall/long models for each connection direction are the same in JE and BE; only the low/short ones are different. So I think this file can just be deleted, and JE1 can be moved to JE1 BE1. btw happy 10000 edits! πŸ‘ Image

The Bedrock Edition model does have a slight height difference, but it's only about 0.00158688 pixels shorter, so it isn't very visible. πŸ‘ Image

Maybe it was the program I used to convert it that is showing a different number for me, I'm not sure. πŸ‘ Image

It could also be some weird Bedrock Edition sizing stuff, like what happens when you place doors at different locations. πŸ‘ Image
NmF () 15:41, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
Flipping back and forth between the two files does show differences of some description. Is a different tool being used for rendering and is this responsible for the discrepancy? If there exists a legitimate difference, ideally these should be controlled for so that the differences are more visually striking when switching from one file to the other. - User-12316399 (talk) 15:17, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

I tried rendering them in Blender, and they show no difference at all. πŸ‘ Image
Txt_3190 T C
15:41, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
I think that when the difference is so tiny that it simply cannot be shown within 300x300px, they should be treated as identical. To be honest, for those cross-model blocks we have now, if you really insist on doing the maths, the overall planar scale of one of the faces in JE and BE actually differs by only 0.000347222825%. (I say 'one of the faces' because I only tested one.) I do not think anyone would seriously try to split File:Grass_JE7_BE5.png into File:Grass_JE7.png and File:Grass_BE5.png at this point; that would be rather pointless. πŸ‘ Image

Hi, I have granted you the 'Patroller' user right. This right lets you mark edits by new users (or temporary accounts) that may need checking for style or accuracy as 'patrolled', which means that no further action needs to be taken with regard to those edits. This right also gives you a 'Rollback' button that appears next to edits, this is used to revert multiple rule-breaking edits by a user. You can have a read through Help:Patrolling to get you started. Thank you for your contributions!  Nixinova  T β„ C  11:52, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Bedrock terrain atlas

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 June5 comments3 people in discussion

Hey there! Seeing you're working on atlas.terrain, I'd like to inform you that RTX rendering in the current Preview has a bug with the terrain atlas, where it cannot load the textures properly and just shows the atlas on blocks. This is because a major change – tile padding has been removed in the previous Preview, and RTX will be fixed in the next one. So if it's any useful for you: now is the chance! I don't know anything about it, so maybe not... just letting you know. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) πŸ‘ Image

No, it only affects blocks and I clearly recognize the atlas.terrain textures. Interesting detail is that it is also composed of the MERS textures. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) πŸ‘ Image
