Specific NBT tags used for leashes

[edit source]
Latest comment: 10 July 20201 comment1 person in discussion

This article briefly mentioned that you can attach leashes to mobs via NBT editor, but it never mentioned which specific tags to modify. Can someone find which tags control leads? --AFellowEditorLikeYou (talk) 20:27, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Rope In Action

I Was Playing Minecraft Classic, And Decided To Look In the Inventory, And I Found a Rope Block. It Acts Like Scaffolding. Any Thoughts? – Unsigned comment added by JakeYT2 (talkcontribs) at 18:48, 20 January 2022 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

We can't verify that because the game is clearly modded, as evidenced by the fact that a "Noclip" option is clearly visible in the screenshot. BDJP (t|c) 18:51, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Lead like string in a mod before leads were added

[edit source]
Latest comment: 18 January 20251 comment1 person in discussion

Hello, I'm new. I found this one really old mod that re-adds Rana. One of the features is that you can attach string to Rana, which is described to have very lead-like propperties. Mojang used to sometimes add features from mods, so could it be possible the idea at the very least came from this mod? The mod was posted in Jan 14, 2011.

Under the 'Issues' tab, it looks like someone pulled all bugs with "lead" in the name, even if they arent related to the item at all

If 4 pepole can go on a Happy Ghast we can put more players on boats then leash them all and for 4 boats 20 pepole would be on like a Happy Ghast express! MoobloomMaven (talk) 22:12, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

So I just read this, the currently last-part in "Leashing Mobs" . "Boats are unaffected by leads if a player is a direct passenger to a boat. Leads still work on boats with a player riding a mob that is riding the boat."
Again, so - maybe - yes. with "the 'extra step'" of putting a Ridable mob, into the given boat. Then, Riding the mob(-inside the boat).
Now possibly there'd be even "more-than one" ridable mob, that could Go in a single boat. Which'd mean two players - maybe - still, per boat(-even when attached - then - to a Lead). Striders? Yilante, 5 /4 /25. 7:48 a.m. 2600:1702:30A0:D290:6434:7F9E:515E:F9D1 14:48, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
I mean 2 pepole can go in a bout and there would really be 12 pepole. MoobloomMaven (talk) 13:49, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
You could just attach the ridable mobs directly to the Happy Ghast without involving boats at all. Llamas would be more compact than horses, BTW. Nerefir (talk) 08:44, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

Entering boat simultaneously with shared lead

"Unless they enter the same boat at the same time, every lead is always broken if at least one moves into a boat." From wandering trader.

I didn't happen to see this info. in here, and might assume that it holds true. In here. Yilante 5 /4 /25 8:00 a.m. 2600:1702:30A0:D290:6434:7F9E:515E:F9D1 15:00, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Crafting recipe is not currently correct? Even if change is accurate to snapshots, ideally should not be changed until update releases??

Should the mobs that can only be leashed when not hostile or when not mounted by a hostile mob moved to the main list with only when not mounted by a hostile mob or only when not hostile in the Lead#Leashing MobsLeashing section?

No, because the current list is much clearer and the small text isn't very visible, especially on mobile. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:44, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Bugs?!

There are bugs in the wiki. Like....the sound ~2026-RavagerTerracottaHusk10215 (talk) 00:41, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

Elaborate on what you mean by "the sound". Is it the "Sounds" section? And which specific sound in that section? - RedX (talk) 00:47, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

Q: What happens if you log out while entities are leashed to you?

Specifically, on a running multiplayer server, let's say you have 10 chest boats leashed to each other and then one of them is leashed to you. Do they all "log out" too, keeping your items safe? Nerefir (talk) 08:46, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
