In the introduction, I would like to say "Along the road can spawn small buildings and other decor made of mud bricks and terracotta." I do not know whether it should be decor or décor - the structure files are named decor but décor is the correct spelling. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 16:34, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
There is some inconsistency across the article. Is one of these structures called 'Trail Ruins' or 'a Trail Ruin'? The latter is how the ocean ruins page is done, but the former is what is in the structure files (the structure files list them as singular). Plighting Engineerd (talk) 00:31, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Can anyone fact check if job sites generate in trail ruins? ive checked multiple trail ruins and haven"t seen a single one.
Were it up to me, articles would often have a tips section. Anyway, I have a useful tip:

I've noticed something about the terrain generation around the ruins.
Similarly, the terrain/hills over the Trail Ruins is unnatural. If the runs are entirely at relatively flat ground, there's nothing odd, but in any sort of a hilly area, the terrain over the ruins is shaped specially to cover the ruins, which can result in unnaturally big vertical flat walled hills.
Basically, the ruins generate and then the game overwrites local terrain generation to make sure that the ruins are covered.
I've heard that in the Bedrock edition they solved the same issue by making the ruins generate deeper in the ground. GMRE (talk) 16:15, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
The terrain change is called a "beardifier". It's used in the structure.json files for a lot of structures, like outposts, strongholds, villages, trail ruins, ancient cities, etc. The aquifer thing is called the aquifer barrier and is generated differently. Also I have the Amogus sand and gravel resourcepack but literally nothing else

Trail ruins no longer generate with Sand or suspicious sand, but the picture on this page still has sand.Fengjingzi (talk) 11:51, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
im new to helping out with the wiki and i know a few things that spawn additionally in suspicious sand/gravel (including diamonds in desert temples: not sure if its exclusive to there) how can i find out the spawn percentage? is it in the code or somewhere easier to find? --Musicalghost (talk) 18:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
I added up all the common bedrock drops and instead of getting 100% I got 99.6%. I play console so I can't go file digging so does anyone know what the 0.4% is? SameOsprey40853 (talk) 01:11, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
I am a worldgen datapack dev and technical minecrafter interested in giving information about how trail ruins generate, what buildings they are composed of, unused structures in the code, how the suspicious gravel generates in trail ruins, and more. Unfortunately, I'm not very well versed at making wiki pages, so I'm looking for someone to help organize any information I can offer. I will write up information at some point and post it to the wiki discord, if you are interested in helping, please DM @Quidvio or @me in the discord. Quidvio (talk) 04:09, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Basically, hovering over the dotted words in the loot table section says "Average number of chests to search" or something like that, I think the solution is to give the trail ruins their own version of the Infobox Structure template or something like that. I was playing Minecraft on. bedrock edition I was looting a trail ruins and got lots of clay Blocks instead of the clay balls on the loot table (I was playing Minecraft experimental so that MAY be the reason) WearyEagle77054 (talk) 02:31, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
disregard the "In Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, each trail ruin's rare suspicious gravel contains 1 item stack, with the following distribution:" correction attempt. thank you :)
The structure section should have layered blueprints similar to that of Village/Structure/Blueprints, as it isn't clear what each layer on the inside composes of. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 09:44, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi, I'd like an article for blueprint structures of trail ruins, please :)
/data/minecraft/structure/trail_ruins, and you can view the game files at https://mcasset.cloud, but I can't find an nbt file viewer online. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 06:26, 7 December 2025 (UTC)Add a version of it that is fully restored to help players to restore the trail ruins
