Minecarts

A note for minecarts is that they can be used without player interaction once started –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.37.26.222 (talk) at 16:33, 8 January 2020 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Nether portal track?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 14 January 20201 comment1 person in discussion

Is there a way to deactivate a portal in the nether right after entering it? Just going through a portal can transport a player 127 meters in the nether or ~1000 tiles in the meters, but to make that reversible (or chain-able) the portal used would need to be deactivated and another one would need to be activated. It's always possible to use this as one-way teleport, of course, with alternative ways to get back. --98.150.156.120 12:13, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Riptide

[edit source]
Latest comment: 20 April 20201 comment1 person in discussion

Trident with riptide enchantment may also provide a high speed when used. For riptide III it's about 2.92 to 3 blocks per tick (recorded by scoreboard). Meanwhile, I found that trident with riptide enchantment.level.2147483647 by using commands could offer a extremely high speed.(More than 1.6 billion blocks per tick, recorded by scoreboard before the game crashed.) I'm not sure that could it be even faster?

Running/Jumping on Ice

[edit source]

Should the table be updated to include this as a condition? It seems faster than running on other surfaces.

Dolphin's Grace inconsistencies/missing numbers

[edit source]
Latest comment: 27 September 20204 comments2 people in discussion

I was watching one of Etho's latest videos. It was the one where he showed us his secret Dolphin's Grace Superhighway to get to the End Portal and the Gaming District. He said that Dolphin's Grace plus Depth Strider 3 was about 50 blocks per second and that combining it with Soul Speed 3 was 75 blocks per second. The wiki page says nothing about Dolphin's Grace + Depth Strider + Soul Speed, but it says that Dolphin's Grace and Depth Strider III is 80 blocks per second. Could someone fact check these numbers? Thanks! Yreyot25 (talk) 18:33, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

@Yreyot25: Going through the history of this article, it looks like it's always been wrong. In early 2020, an anonymous IP user attempted to correct the long-standing value of 80 m/s for Dolphin's Grace by itself, saying that it can be achieved only with Depth Strider. The anon's change to 8 m/s also looks incorrect for the status effect alone (or maybe the Dolphin's Grace article is incorrect saying that it's 50 m/s), and apparently the anon guessed for the higher 80 m/s value with Depth Strider. If you have better data, please change it. ~ Amatulic (talk) 19:20, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
@Amatulic: Ok, thank you! I don't have much experience with commands, so I'd like someone else test the Dolphin's Grace + Depth Strider III + Soul Speed III, and maybe add another row with Dolphin's Grace + Depth Strider III + Soul Speed III and Speed II. Mumbo Jumbo's tests (Mumbo's Video) show that Dolphin's Grace and Depth Strider are made faster with Speed potions. Also, the video linked on Dolphin's Grace as the citation for the 50 m/s was Logdotzip's video on Minecraft Travel, and he showed that Dolphin's Grace + Depth Strider was 83 ticks for 200 blocks, which is about 48 blocks per second, so the Dolphin's Grace article is inaccurate on its own. I added some clarification, saying the 50 m/s is with Depth Strider, and that higher speeds are possible with Soul Speed and Speed II. I think the inconsistencies between Mumbo's vid and Logdotzip's vid is because Logdotzip used a distance of 200 blocks, while Mumbo used 500 blocks, so acceleration might have come into play. Thanks again! Yreyot25 (talk) 01:28, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
I don't have experience with command either. I just play the game as it was designed. ~ Amatulic (talk) 14:07, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Minecraft Bukkit Development

[edit source]

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped with this page because it is very helpful for using vectors with Minecraft Bukkit plugins. By the way for anyone who is making plugins, I believe the velocity x and z speed are 4.317 m/s and the y speed is 2.0 m/s.

Pig speed conflicts with pig page

[edit source]
Latest comment: 26 April 20232 comments1 person in discussion

On this page it says the pig's speed whipe saddled and using a carrot on a stick is 4.19 blocks per second. But on Pig it says 5.2 blocks per second. Which is it? Why do both pages have conflicting information?

Thetoiletslayer (talk) 18:59, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

Edit: Also according to multiple speed testing setups pigs are traveling at a little over 2 blocks per second(in bedrock at least, I didnt test in java)

Thetoiletslayer (talk) 16:22, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

Is this right?

Boats go 8 blocks a second!? Am I doing my math wrong, or would that mean boats cover 320 blocks in 40 seconds? Or are boats slower? Nerdyguy2000 (talk) 22:17, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Aren't horse, donkey and mule supposed to be the same speed ?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 January 20251 comment1 person in discussion

I just see that horses have the 14.23 average m/s where the mule and donkey have 7.38 average m/s in the board (which is the speed of a spawned mule).

Because we can breed them to raise their respective speed at the maximum 14.23 we could all put them in the same category like this : Horse/Donkey/Mule, condition: max stats. RiriStudio (talk) 15:30, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Camels

[edit source]
Latest comment: 25 March 20251 comment1 person in discussion

Camels do not appear to be mentioned in this article at all. They should be added given they are a mob that the player can ride. 2607:FB91:181A:875D:99F:C5A:5AF9:C00C 05:17, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

In-depth information on how entities move (a cubicmetre video said that non-projectiles move in a "corkscrew" fashion, and projectiles move in a straight line)

--FeedbackBot 21:36, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
That is unequivocally false. No entity moves in a "corkscrew" fashion. BDJP (t|c) 04:32, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
What cubic said is technically false, but there is a truth underneath that he was either misrepresenting or misunderstanding: that many entities *check for hard hitbox collision* in one axis at a time, using the result from the previous axis as the start of the check for the next axis. This creates a sort of "corkscrew" shape if you were to trace it out over multiple gameticks. In general, entities only exist at discrete start and end positions, never between, and collision checks simulate the movement from start to end. So in that sense, the *simulated movement* of those entities is consistent with it moving in one axis at a time, even though they never exist at those in-between places. Projectiles check for collisions along the ray of their current Motion, and so appear to travel directly (though just like other entities, they only exist at the start and end of any movement).
Regardless, I agree that more in depth information about entity movement would be useful, but I don't think this page would be well-suited for it. Enbyd (talk) 18:07, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Add the nautilus to the methods section

--FeedbackBot 00:18, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
We don't have data for that yet, since there are no snapshots with nautiluses yet. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:55, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
But we do have snapshots and previews now, henceforth we need to add the nautilus speeds with and without dashing. MeowMeow123 (talk) 14:09, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
