Would it be okay if I added the section "List of hints," containing the in-game description, actual requirements, and the title in the options.txt file, for each hint? If you look at the German (Deutsch) version of the article, you'll notice that they did something very similar.--Madminecrafter12 (talk) 15:10, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- I have added the section - please discuss objections here before reverting.--Madminecrafter12 Talk • Contributions 16:03, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
If you get stuck too long on the find_tree stage (after completing the look around step) without finding a tree, a different prompt will appear:
Find a tree
Punch it to collect wood
Once you find a tree (possibly requiring you to punch it) the hint will disappear. Either shortly after, or shortly after if you don't get a log, the regular punch_tree hint will appear. I might try to add this myself later, but for now I'm just letting others know that it's missing.
Also, I believe that the "looking around" hint is part of movement, not find_tree. AugustShade (talk) 06:08, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I've added it, along with all the gifs and descriptions that I could find here for Bedrock's game tips. Here's some things that will need to be done:
- - Java's "Find a tree" needs actual requirements
- - The gif containing all of Java's hints needs to be updated
- - All Bedrock game tips need actual requirements
- - How the hotbar game tip appears on kbm needs to be mentioned; in-game, it picks a single slot, and the message appears in a box just above the hotbar, that points to the slot like a speech bubble
- - I couldn't get controller hints to appear on PC, but found the descriptions (but not gifs) in en_US.lang
- - I didn't test the touch hints, and just got them from the files
- - I don't know if the various touch types use the same gifs
- - The gifs don't have a background, so the mouse and touch symbols are difficult to see on a white background
- - When it mentions a specific key or control, it currently reads how it was in the file; I haven't set them to use what the wiki does
- - The currently sneaking and creative inventory message probably use
sneak and open inventory, but I wasn't sure so I left them blank
- - Some of the gifs could probably be cropped
- Also, it looks like I kind of overrode someone else's edit because I was editing for so long... sorry about that. I needed to modify what was edited anyway, and I re-added the other thing they did. AugustShade (talk) 20:18, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- I don’t think you can, but correct me if I’m wrong. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 08:16, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- You can, at least in Bedrock. But that option is not available for all players. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) 👁 Image

- Oh well, then. Maybe you can add the information somewhere in the page. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 08:29, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Unresolving as this information is still missing in the page.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 09:50, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- No, I did already add it when I made my comment. But I'm not sure if options.txt is the right section for it. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) 👁 Image

- My bad, didn't see that... I agree it's not really the right section for it. The article should be rewritten/expanded to better include Bedrock information anyway. Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 23:02, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Re-resolved it as MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 already added it. I'm also unsure of where to put it though. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 11:47, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
other pages mention 1.17 adding a tutorial toast for bundles, i think it might have been the icon that is a mouse with the right mouse button in red but this page doesnt seem to show that icon at all
also the punching tree hint used to use a diffrent icon i think or the punching tree icon was never used and was just sitting unused im not sure 👁 Image

- According to options.txt, the "hideBundleTutorial" option has been removed (but it doesn't state when), which presumably means so has teh tutorial itself. I tested in 1.21.11 by giving myself a bundle, and no tutorial hint appeared. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:21, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- ok but the icon and hint should still be in the history section? 👁 Image
BrandonEpicGamer (TALK) 01:05, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- I mentioned it in the history section, but we don't even know what the icon is. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:25, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- i think its the mouse with the right button in red
- even if it isnt you can check the update it was added in 👁 Image
BrandonEpicGamer (TALK) 22:08, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- like check 1.17 versions, i also know that 1.20.1 had a texture for the mouse with red right button so that is why i think that was its icon 👁 Image

- Is it the one at File:Toast right click.png? ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:38, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- I found that image in the game files (right_click.png) while I was trying to figure out if the toast still existed; it was in a folder with other toast images. The tutorial hint was apparently added in 21w05a. I haven't been able to figure out when it was removed. I tried finding a YouTube video of a 1.17 playthrough that showed someone getting a bundle for the first time to see if a toast popped up, but I haven't had any luck yet. Rampage455 (talk) 02:57, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Can you test right now? Even if you have obtained bundles in later versions, it's fine since that isn't reflected in options.txt as the toast is removed.
- Also I found the same right_click.png file, but I'm not sure if it's used anywhere (I guess I could grep for that string in the 1.21.11 client source code in both net/minecraft and com/mojang, but that would take some time since the directories are quite large). ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 02:59, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Never mind, after running
grep -r "right_click.png" ., there are no results. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:00, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- You don't get the toast from just picking up a bundle but instead from failing to put an item inside of the bundle by not right clicking like the toast says. It most likely got removed when the bundle was reworked. Daliusite (Talk) 22:48, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- that is the image i was talking about 👁 Image
