Remove talk link?

Navbars link to the template page itself, its talk page, and editing the template. I propose and 👁 Image
Support removing the talk link from navbars because the vast majority of templates using navbar do not and likely will not have any content on their talk pages. This creates the issue of massively clogging up Special:WantedPages, contributing to that page not being very useful, as every single one of these talk page redlinks counts as a wanted page. Originally navbars were only on navboxes, but they're now being implemented into sound tables, which I think is a good idea, but it does exacerbate this issue. I don't believe the talk link is particularly useful compared to viewing or editing the template. Viewing is a must, because otherwise you have to manually search for the template after finding out the template's name. Once you're on the template page, you can easily go to the talk page with one more click anyway. "But couldn't you say the same about editing" yes, but what if you wanted to make a quick edit to a large amount of navboxes, and you were using something like MCW:Quick reference page as a way to access the navboxes? I think it could be useful for that, and either way, the edit link isn't a redlink on the majority of navboxes. I don't foresee a scenario where someone wants to be efficient as possible in accessing multiple navboxes' talk pages, you're talking multiple minutes at least to write your message any way.

I'm not usually the type to care about WantedPages being clogged up, but this case is easily avoidable with a fix that, in my opinion, has essentially no downside. - Harristic / Talk 👁 Image

Support this too, especially since talk pages for pages using the template will probably never be used. - CrowdingFaun624 (talk) 21:26, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Comment - This is a functionality that should be added by another template, not this template. On Wikipedia, {{navbar}} always gives a standard V.T.E. links, but {{v}} and {{view}} need to be used to create a navbar with "view", or "view, edit" navbars. They also add extra functionality such as adding "h" for history, "w" for watch, and "m" for move, but the "talk" link is always standard with Template:Navbar.
It's also worth noting that talk page redlinks were disabled on PT wiki a few weeks ago, however, this was done by swapping out TALKPAGENAME with FULLURL on PT wiki, so the talk links are all still present on PT wiki navbars. The issue with this approach is that non-existant pages would show up as blue links, even though the pages don't exist, which is misleading. Delvin4519 (talk) 16:20, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Strong support to make Special:WantedPages usable again. 👁 Image

Support - a template talk page is niche enough that it doesn't need to be linked everywhere that the template is used. –Sonicwave talk 19:14, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Removing it completely is unnecessary. Most of the navboxes use the mini argument. I would suggest that the regular default argument does not need any changes, since none of the navboxes use the default argument. If mini is toggled, it will display the view and edit links, if the mini argument is not toggled, then the talk link should still be displayed. Delvin4519 (talk) 19:26, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Mini is toggled on by default, I've never seen a navbox manually toggle mini on. For all intents and purposes removing it from mini removes it completely, which is good. - Harristic / Talk 👁 Image
