This application is used in Apple TV Software for Apple TV (2nd generation) and Apple TV (3rd generation) as a direct replacement for SpringBoard. It was previously known as "Lowtide".

In tvOS, this application is replaced by PineBoard.

Due to the lack of an App Store, AppleTV.app includes various "appliances". These are not real apps but instead subviews that provide app-like functionality.

By default, the following appliances are positioned in the "top shelf" area:

• Movies
• TV Shows
• Music
• Computers
• Settings

A list of third-party appliances for the user's current region follows. The order and visibility can be adjusted in Settings > Main Menu.

When not connected to a network, only Computers and Settings are shown.
