Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Leads Over Windows 11 In Creator Workstation Performance
Kicking off the tests were some GPU benchmarks of the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q workstation card. With the GravityMark Vulkan benchmarks there was quite close performance as one would expect. With Vulkan ray-tracing, Windows 11 Pro was having a small advantage of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with its Wayland desktop.
Interestingly for 3DMark Wild Life Extreme with its Linux-native build, it was noticeably slower than Windows 11 Pro.
Meanwhile for OpenGL exposure was the Unigine Superposition tests where the performance was nearly identical under each operating system.
For some OpenCL exposure there was Hashcat and it was typically showing the leading performance on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
With the FluidX3D computational fluid dynamics software using OpenCL, the performance was nearly identical under each operating system.
