Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Leads Over Windows 11 In Creator Workstation Performance
The Blender 3D modeling software continues to run slightly faster on Ubuntu Linux than Microsoft Windows, especially for the CPU-based rendering where as the NVIDIA OptiX and CUDA performance was quite similar.
The proprietary Indigo renderer was showing the best performance for both CPU and GPU based rendering with IndigoBench when running on Linux.
The Appleseed renderer also continues to lead on Linux.
The Chaos Group V-RAY renderer did pick up a win for Windows 11 when running with the NVIDIA RTX back-end, but with the CUDA back-end the performance was nearly identical. V-RAY rendering on the CPU was an easy win for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS on this HP Z6 G5 A workstation.
