Not touched in over a year. Consensus appears support but against such a large table, gallery is suggested. - Harri / Talk πŸ‘ Image

I'm sure by now most of you have seen a handful of renders for texture and mash-up pack designs across certain articles. I don't think anyone would really be opposed to having them, they're official content we have a project for, but once we start prioritizing those packs more the galleries are going to get rather crowded. Even beyond that I'd argue they don't fit in gallery since they're not exactly "other media" in the first place. As a potential solution, I propose we implement a new section to all applicable pages just for these.

Pack Image Description Notes
Natural πŸ‘ Image
A creeper in a more realistic style, envisioned as very flat and bright green with minimal details, apart from the toes being smaller.
City πŸ‘ Image
A creeper in a business suit, pants, and shoes, with a red tie. Derivative of the Natural style, reusing the exact head.
Greek Mythology πŸ‘ Image
A creeper rendered in Greek stylings, with a texture comprised of various patterns, such as swirls similar to those on

I'm not quite sure which of these formats would be ideal, but official texture packs are pretty rare now so there wouldn't be many additions. Practically these sections would be for showing options for customizing the game, so resource packs for severs or maps would be off limits. There's also the matter of how to handle blocks, based off the few pages that have been started it seems agreed to do renders of every mob but items would be an even higher amount of work, which is saying a lot when we've barely scratched the surface of DLC.--Realshow19 (talk) 00:00, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

I πŸ‘ Image
Support the idea in general! I prefer the table with a description and notes over the other one.

I also fully πŸ‘ Image
Support this (specifically the first table). However, I think that there should be a column with the official names of each cosmetic. In addition, I believe that perhaps the most notable cosmetics (maybe three or four at most) should also be listed in infoboxes.Drour1234 (talk) 00:33, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
These aren't individual items with names, they're from texture packs. Realshow19 (talk) 00:37, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
That doesn’t mean that they don’t have official names.Drour1234 (talk) 00:51, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
Do they or are you just assuming that? Realshow19 (talk) 01:03, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
First one looks much nicer imo, but the second is so much more compact. It's a decision over aesthetics and practicality, so the second table would probably be better for the wiki. πŸ‘ Image

The first one is supposed to be based off the existing skin sections on the player pages, for consistency I'm leaning towards that, but I also don't want this to take up a bulk of the page. Realshow19 (talk) 16:22, 12 June 2025 (UTC)
I have always thought the large amount of wasted space in the table for skins was quite redundant. It's good to make a change for resource packs. πŸ‘ Image

I like the idea, but does it really need to be a table? Tables aren't great for mobile and the one with descriptions have so much whitespace due to the images being way higher than the text. Meanwhile the smaller table example is literally just a gallery except for the advantages of a gallery. I think this will be best documented using a gallery, even if the description might get a bit longer. This doesn't mean they need to be in the general gallery section, they can still be in their own section but using a gallery as format to display the skins. -- πŸ‘ Image

That’s a good point, hadn’t thought of that. Realshow19 (talk) 16:39, 12 June 2025 (UTC)

Support (with galleries) - but I'm not sure if "Cosmetics" would be the right name for this section. Maybe something like "In Marketplace content" might be a better title? Not sure. | violine1101 (talk) 08:14, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
I called it that in part because I was initially going to suggest a section for character items too. Might still pitch that if this gets approved but it’s not really content for the mobs so much as themed after them, and we’re already adding them to more pages anyway. Realshow19 (talk) 13:20, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
There are more than 30 official texture pack and mash up pack DLCs, and both suggested table formats would crowd the page more than just having them as a gallery subsection. I'm fine with having them in pages, but they should simply use galleries. Any descriptions and notes, if needed, would go in the relevant texture/mash up pack page. As for the section title, I'd go with "In DLC" or just "DLC".--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 13:34, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Support for implementing it as a gallery. I think linking the dedicated DLC page in the image's description would be enough, so I don't think the descriptions would get too long. As a title for the section I guess "Downloadable content" or "DLC" is fine (maybe prefixed with "official" to clarify that 3rd party resource packs aren't and shouldn't be covered). -- πŸ‘ Image
