Forum:Disambiguation pages

Currently, there is user called Arina who is removing content from disambiguation pages or flagging them as delete. Already the following disambiguation pages have been marked as delete:

• Black
• Blue
• Brown
• Cut
• Cyan
• Fancy
• Light Blue
• Light Gray

What now I am proposing is that all disambiguation pages will be properly rewritten because of the current situation. The changes that should be made to disambiguation pages be discussed here. – 245e (talk • contribs) 20:28, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

To clarify: I marked all of the pages above for deletion because there is no ambiguity in them. Look at Black, for example - I don't think anyone refers to "black concrete" or "black wool" as "black".--Arina (she/her) 21:01, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

Btw another thought I had is to turn all colors pseudo-disambiguations into lists - the same way I did with List of dimensions.--Arina (she/her) 21:03, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

I've come to realise this doesn't actually matter. Our wiki has gradually evolved to find itself using disambiguation pages this way, and I think they are useful. I don't think changing these pages to be "lists" is important to do. At the very least, please never remove useful items from disambiguation pages even if they do not fit wikipedia's disambiguation guidelines, it is always the best choice to keep the items but reformat the page (not that I think that's necessary either). - Harristic / Talk 👁 Image

I'm not sure I like the naming scheme of "List of ...", we aren't Wikipedia and as such don't have a title conflict with the topic itself. I would prefer to just keep the set index page at Black. -- 👁 Image

"List of x items" name also restricts the subject of the page fairly arbitrarily. Presumably we would not want a separate page for mobs and blocks(which blocks are also items) Mudscape 👁 Image

I liked how the pages were before. If people want to remove the disambig template then fine, but we don't really need to totally change the pages or move them to new names. We aren't Wikipedia and some of the reasonings they have for pages don't apply to us. Mudscape 👁 Image
