There is clear concensus for Option 2. --GIM Dianliang233 T C 13:26, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Currently, pages like Java Edition 1.6.2 feature message boxes explaining how the version is missing using {{Lost version}} and the like. This is how it appears:

The pre-reupload version of this version is currently missing.

This version has been reuploaded at one point in time. While the reuploaded version has been archived, the pre-reupload has not, meaning that it is currently lost.
If you believe you have a copy of this version, please post it on this page's talk page.
The pre-release version of this version is currently missing.

This version had a pre-release at one point in time. While the release version has been archived, the pre-release has not, meaning that it is currently lost.

1.6.2
Release date etc
{
 "title": "1.6.2",
 "images": [],
 "rows": [
 {
 "field": "etc",
 "label": "Release date"
 }
 ],
 "invimages": [],
 "footer": "</tr>\n</table>"
}

1.6.2 is a minor update to Minecraft (Java Edition) released on July 8, 2013.

That is a lot of text-wall information to put at the very top of the article where the viewer starts reading from. This is a problem, in my eyes.

There are two solutions to this:

 1. Put the message boxes smaller, off to the side

1.6.2
Release date etc
{
 "title": "1.6.2",
 "images": [],
 "rows": [
 {
 "field": "etc",
 "label": "Release date"
 }
 ],
 "invimages": [],
 "footer": "</tr>\n</table>"
}

 2. Merge all the information in the message boxes into one template

This version is currently missing it's pre-reupload and pre-release versions.

These versions are not available in the launcher and are therefore currently lost.

 3. Or: Both (probably not)

I prefer option 2, just with a merged template. Moving β€œthe version is lost” information to the right will make it less accessible. β€” BabylonAS 07:24, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Seconded on option 2. BDJP (t|c) 07:36, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

 Support for option 2 but I would rewrite "These versions are not available in the launcher and are therefore currently lost." to something like "These versions have never been archived and are therefore currently lost." They are lost because they haven't been archived, not because they are missing from the launcher - the launcher actually lacks a lot of archived versions we provide a download link for.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 08:17, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Yeah that rewrite was just a quick example.  Nixinova β€Šβ€‰T β€Š C   11:59, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

 Support - Option 2 makes the most semantic sense. - πŸ‘ Image

 Support - Option two makes the most sense - putting it off to the side would make it slightly less noticable, and the two templates could easily be merged to one as they are more-or less the same.--

There's a clear consensus for option 2 so this option is underway.  Nixinova β€Šβ€‰T β€Š C   13:47, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
