I've done some testing on the damage reduction while rolled up. The resulting damage (in half-hearts) is described by (or )
I've been able to verify that melee damage (tested with empty hands, wooden sword, netherite axe, and netherite sword) and harming potions are reduced and that explosion damage isn't, but I would appreciate some help with testing other damage types and verifying projectile damage (as I haven't gotten consistent data on that yet). - I just did some manual testing as well as looking at the code, and I can confirm that the damage is calculated as when the armadillo is rolled up. However, this is effective for all damage types (including explosions) - I found this result using in-game testing, as well as the fact that the code doesn't care about damage source. I have added this information to the page. 👁 Image

- Thank you! ...maybe I should have done a more consistent setup than just putting the armadillo in a hole with TNT and comparing the resulting damage. Kationor (talk) 01:53, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Lol, no worries! 👁 Image

- Armadillo has been going to the gym, making them abs and spine nice and strong! --Simanelix (talk) 02:52, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
I was looking [2460024] by plighting_engineerd, and I though that the text looked a bit tricky to read. However, I do admit that there is not really an easy way to write this sentence:
- An armadillo can { {become startled and hide in its shell} {when it is hurt, or when {players who are sprinting, players {on a mount or in a vehicle}, or undead mobs} confront it} }.
-- Simanelix (talk) 21:07, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I had a hard time making that easy to understand. Would it be better to put the things that scare the armadilo in bullet points maybe? 👁 Image

- I'm not sure. I feel like the style guide doesn't say a lot on using prose vs. using bullet points. I'm all for breaking things up as much as possible and using tons of bullet points, but I don't know if that's actually the right thing to do. --Simanelix (talk) 21:37, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- I rearranged it for clarity. Bullets would have worked too, but it isn't necessary to itemize all the ways an armadillo can be startled, just list them. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:05, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- Then why is the experience drop for Armadillo#On death itemized? --Simanelix (T|C) 22:13, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- All articles itemize the drops. The conditions that startle an armadillo aren't really important enough to highlight separately in bullets. It's enough to know that they're startled by undead and players in motion by any means besides walking. In fact we could say that rather than listing the different modes of motion as it does now. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:28, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
- This Animal is in game now! 2003:CA:E71E:A07C:B9A2:9FDC:87D0:A5A3 17:54, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
These guys are very rare. They are certainly by far the rarest animals in the savannah (at least on Java). Also, thankfully the lead doesn't break when pulling them on flat ground, because on their own they walk about as fast a boat drives on land. 2001:7D0:81DC:3680:84C2:8C74:AFB1:55D9 16:18, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- It would be nice if we had some actual spawning chance or mob cap numbers for armadillos.
- And yeah, they walk slowly. I encountered one in the wild while camping one night. I got up in the middle of the night to relieve myself, and I was startled by a rustling noise. A large armadillo ambled by, passed me about a meter away, didn't give a damn about my presence at all, and slowly ambled away.
- When I lived in Texas, there was always a carnage of dead armadillos on the road, thanks to their "defense" mechanism that causes them to jump upward when a car passes over them; if they'd stay put and freeze they wouldn't get hurt. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:02, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
This page does not say what the fright range (the range in which a mob is scared of another mob) for spiders in relation to the armadillo is, this does exist on the Cat#Behavior page so I feel like it is something that should be added 95.173.221.105 02:02, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- That's a good point. I agree that this information should be added. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 02:41, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- I added it. Spiders and cave spiders flee when within 6 blocks of armadillos. Rampage455 (talk) 03:38, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
On most other mob pages I can find the type of block and amount of space required to spawn that mob in their respective biomes, but it's not listed here, does anyone know the answer? I'm sure grass block is one of the blocks, but can they also spawn on sand like rabbits? Winderine (talk) 02:46, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
