Animated Fire Texture

[edit source]
Latest comment: 20 March 20133 comments2 people in discussion

Hello.

I've just uploaded an animated version of the Fire grid texture, thanks to the new texture format in the Redstone Update (Minecraft 1.5). I embedded it below so you guys can see it.

πŸ‘ Image

I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to use my animated fire render as the fire grid image for this template so that we don't have to look at that boring static image of fire.

Thank you for your consideration. β€”YoshiOG1 19:40, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

The animation would be nice, but the template only uses PNG images, not GIFs, and I'm hesitant to add special-case code. You could turn it into a (non-standard) APNG animated image, though that isn't supported by all browsers. -- Orthotope 01:58, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
That's OK... Thanks anyway!
So I guess I could add it to Fire's gallery instead... β€”YoshiOG1 19:15, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

I need the source on this page.

"Any Wood" values?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 24 January 201410 comments3 people in discussion

Now that we have lua, would it be possible to add "Any Wood X" (X=Logs, Planks, Stairs, Slabs) values that could abstract out those manually-maintained lists? --MentalMouse42 (talk) 23:00, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

We don't have lua until the update to 1.21, which is meant to happen by the end of November. The lua version of this template already has frame groups, which lets you define a list of frames under an alias. –Matt ᐸ Talk

Cool, so it should be straightforward to do "Any Wood", and suchlike. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 10:14, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Well I was thinking using values like "Wood" (unless there's conflicts with existing names), but I'm not decided between the two. –Matt ᐸ Talk

I'm not terribly invested in the difference, but ISTM that "Any" is explicitly inclusive, while "Wood", "Wooden Stairs", etc., could be seen as underspecified. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 13:23, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Cool, Thanks! I don't completely understand the Golden Apple aliases, but the others look straightfoward. Hmm... no docs for the module? I'm assuming it's interface-compatible with the old Template:Grid, but it would be nice to have that made explicit. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 14:22, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
[Title]Mod:Name,Amount[Description] --91.9.202.58 14:28, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The golden apple aliases add the colouring to the name (go hover over the outputs on Golden Apple). A new feature in the lua version is the [] syntax before and after the name which adds a title and description respectively, for use with Minetip. This could of course be done directly on the page, but why not do it here so it's automatically coloured by just using the name?
I'll do the docs after I've finished implementing everything, but unless you're going to be using the module directly (don't do that), existing functionality should be mostly the same. –Matt ᐸ Talk

I, or someone, might actually have cause to use it, if and when we get around to setting up the icons and extra grids for Thaumcraft. However, that doesn't seem imminent. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 00:25, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Problem with the vanilla-prefix

[edit source]
Latest comment: 22 January 20145 comments3 people in discussion

I noticed a bug in this template. When the vanilla-prefix is used to show vanilla-items in a grid where a mod is defined (mod=), only the first vanilla-item or block is shown. You can see this in the documentation Has someone a solution?--.zip de.MinecraftWiki-Admin Diskussion 07:40, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

It used to work, I probably broke it at some point. It'll work in the lua version. –Matt ᐸ Talk

We're on Mediawiki 1.21 now and lua should work. Are there plans to rewrite the template in lua to get rid of the existing bugs? --eagle3000 (D ~ B) 15:38, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Animation.

Latest comment: 15 February 20142 comments2 people in discussion

Well, I'm trying to translate the Grid/Crafting Template but without translating this template. But I came to a problem with animation, you can't change the link for a specific part of the animation. ZlingerZZ (talk) 07:17, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

It's never been possible. And it doesn't really need to be, as the image name should always be the same as the page it should link to. –Matt ᐸ Talk

Overlay parameter

[edit source]
Latest comment: 19 August 20141 comment1 person in discussion

Can we possibly add some sort of overlay parameter? either as a part of the grid syntax (would make it easier on other forms of grid) or it's own parameter. It would basically do the same thing that {{{1}}} does to {{{default}}}.

The main reason is it would be helpful for the banner article, as uploading every combination would result in thousands of images.

I am trying to add this template to Turkish page but there is nothing in view source tab. How can i find it? --LambayaFunfDe (talk) 17:57, July 19, 2017 (UTC)

The reason that there is nothing in the template is that it invokes Module:Inventory slot, so that is where you will find the template. – Nixinova πŸ‘ Image

The issue with the Turkish wiki is that in Turkish, I becomes Δ± and i becomes Δ°. In #invoke: expressions, you have to change every Δ° to I (or i, if it's the first letter) and every i to Δ± to make them work. | violine1101(Talk) 20:12, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

Use of {{!}} and {{=}}

[edit source]
Latest comment: 4 May 20186 comments3 people in discussion

When I set the title and link to none on a template using {{!}} and {{=}} it becomes like this: {{Slot|layout_Head_Empty.png{{!}}title{{=}}none{{!}}link{{=}}none}}
Can anyone fix this? – ItsPlantseed βŸ¨β‚°|β‚’βŸ© 13:44, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm trying to imitate the {{{default}}}, but rather than appearing behind the items, the overlay will disappear when it is not empty. Just like the armor slot. – ItsPlantseed βŸ¨β‚°|β‚’βŸ© 14:00, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
Why are you using {{!}} and {{=}}? Those templates are to esacpe template syntax, not be used in it. You also have a non-required .png in the name. Try the following: {{Slot|layout_Head_Empty|title=none|link=none}} –KnightMiner t/c 02:44, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes, I see now. My bad. – ItsPlantseed βŸ¨β‚°|β‚’βŸ© 06:01, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Why would you expect template parameters to work when you've escaped the parameters? Either way, just only set {{{default}}} if there's no value? {{slot|{{{1|}}}|default={{#if: {{{1|}}} || Grid layout Head Empty }}}} –Majr ᐸ Talk

Template needs to be rewritten

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 April 20244 comments3 people in discussion

This template needs to be rewritten to follow the parameter style of other templates, like {{Item}}. --Simanelix (T|C) 22:57, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Why? This template is used extensively in our crafting logic (or at least the backbone of it is), why change it just for "consistency"? Why shouldn't {{Item}} be changed to match this? –KnightMiner (t/c) 20:55, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
You're right. --Simanelix (T|C) 11:22, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
These are two different categories of templates. One is an infobox and the other... well... something unique. β€” BabylonAS 21:00, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Navigation popups gadget causes title parameter to not work

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 April 20243 comments2 people in discussion

When I have the JS gadget for Navigation popups turned on, some inventory slots don't show their tooltip.

The title parameter doesn't seem to have a meaningful affect on items that don't have NBT data by default. For me, the example below doesn't generate a tooltip when I hover over it.
{{Slot|Raw Porkchop; Cooked Porkchop| title=Smelly Porkchop}}
I used inspect element, and smelly porkchop does appear in the alt text at least, but I can't see it any other way.
Using the [&oTitle] syntax seems to fix this just fine though.
{{Slot|[&oSmelly Porkchop] Raw Porkchop; [&oSmelly Porkchop] Cooked Porkchop}}
Some items always work correctly, music discs:

I know this isn't a high priority issue, but it's an issue nonetheless.

--Simanelix (T|C) 11:29, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

I don’t see any issue β€” β€œSmelly Porkchop” shows for me just fine. BabylonAS 11:35, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
I figured it out! It's caused by Navigation popups JS Gadget. As I said, it's weird that causes a probem with the 1st one, but not with the second one. --Simanelix (T|C) 12:47, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Frosted Ice Texture

Issue with wood blocks and items

With matching wood blocks they can sometimes get out of sync because of Bamboo not technically having a log/stem or wood/hyphae variant: πŸ‘ Invicon Oak Log.png: Inventory sprite for Oak Log in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Oak Log with description: Oak Log

As can be seen, after it cycles through every log, planks shows bamboo planks, while the log loops back to Oak. This can be seen on the Planks page in source editor because it manually lists every overworld plank type since using "Matching Overworld Planks" would result in a sync issue. πŸ‘ Image
