CHERRY - A company with tradition
As early as 1953, Walter L. Cherry began manufacturing the first microswitches in the basement of a restaurant in Illinois. 20 years later, the first keyboards were built - making CHERRY the oldest manufacturer of computer keyboards. In 1983, production of the MX switches began, which are now used billions of times in millions of keyboards around the world.
CHERRY SE, headquartered in Germany, is a leading global manufacturer of computer input devices with a focus on office, gaming, industry, security, eHealth solutions and switches for mechanical keyboards.
High-quality German engineering meets outstanding design: our products combine perfect quality and aesthetics with maximum precision and durability.
CHERRY stands for quality products aimed at all those who have high demands on performance, design, durability and functionality of their input devices.
USB microphone for podcast, streaming and office use
CHERRY SE, headquartered in Germany, is a global manufacturer of computer input devices with a focus on office, gaming, industry, security, eHealth solutions as well as switches for mechanical keyboards.
From its humble beginnings in 1953, the iconic brand has stood for quality products designed in Germany. CHERRY peripherals are aimed at those who have high demands on performance, design, durability and functionality in todayโs modern workplace.
Are you not satisfied with the quality of the standard built-in microphone in your laptop or headset and want a more professional sound? With the CHERRY UM 3.0, you'll always get clear and detailed audio in streaming sessions, podcasts, or video calls in your home office. Thanks to its cardioid characteristic, the high-quality USB microphone is ideal for single person voice recordings.
The CHERRY UM 3.0 is equipped with a three-legged base made entirely of metal. This not only gives the USB microphone a very high-quality appearance, but also ensures that it is always securely in place. Its look in matt black makes it a visually appealing microphone for any home office.
To avoid unwanted recordings or to avoid disturbing other participants in a video call, the UM 3.0 can be muted with just one touch. A red LED on the top indicates that the microphone is muted. When ready to continue, touch the symbol again and the LED goes out.
The most common directional characteristic of a microphone is cardioid, which is also used in the CHERRY UM 3.0. The sound is captured from the front; other noises are attenuated. If you are looking for a reliable home office microphone, the UM 3.0 is an excellent choice.
The headphone jack of the CHERRY UM 3.0 is especially useful if you want to record a podcast. You connect the microphone to your headphones and then use the volume control on the back of the microphone to easily adjust the volume. The control is also reminiscent of a CHERRY mouse wheel.

Great value. People say Iโm as clear as day on zoom and Microsoft calls. Also use it to add audio to video on the fly in capcut. Recommend it.
This is not just a mic, it is a full-blown DAC. This means it also outputs stereo sound. There is a standard headphone jack on the bottom of the unit next to the USB port. The input and output will both do 96k. I would only use this rate when recording vocals, and still, I usually use 48k. I didn't measure latency but it is extremely low for a non-ASIO device.
This is a cardioid mic. This means it picks up sound mostly from head-on and the sides, not so much from behind. The sound profile is nice and full but has a slightly tinny feel. This can be fixed with an isolation mount. It has a standard mount screw so we have some options. I played pink noise and recorded it about 6in from my speaker. I'm using Presonus Studio Monitor Eris E5's. If we compare the spectrum on the left to the recorded sound on the right we do see differences. Since no sub was involved, we expect a drop under 90hz. From around 100 to 500hz, we do see a discrepancy. What we do not see are any big spikes or dips. We do see an interesting roll-off on the high end but I am not surprised here. This means that we get a decent signal and EQ can fix this easily. Was it my speakers, or the mic? That would require more testing but it's nothing you can't work around.
The provided stand provides no isolation and this is noticeable. The integrated soft-mute button on top is nice, but note it will be audible without a gate and a smooth touch. Upon plugging in with the nice long cable, this registers as a full audio device and lovely Windows will default to it. We are all used to that so watch out. I don't think I would use headphones plugged directly into the unit. I would ignore it or route it back to a hardware mixer if I needed another output signal.
Overall a good mic and the price is about where it should be.

I've been recording online class lectures for a while, and up until now, I was using either my laptop's microphone or a headset for my lectures. There have been no issues, but after listening back to some older recordings and comparing them to recently recorded lectures using the Cherry UM 3.0 USB Microphone for PC, I definitely can hear a real upgrade to the quality of my voice.
The 'plug and play' was instant, and there was no real hassles in getting this mic to work perfectly. The top of the mic has a touch record/mute feature that worked very well and a clear white/red indicator makes it easy to know which mode you are in. I didn't hook up my headphones for monitoring, but there is an easy volume control on the back of the Cherry microphone, very convenient.
Recommended highly ... it's a good looking, great quality microphone (at least for the speaking voice) at a very fair price point.

I've used a few different microphones and this one sounds really good, especially when you consider the price. Previous to reviewing this mic I thought the Yeti was the best USB mic for the money. After trying out this mic I'd say this one is the new go to for USB microphones. I use an XLR mic for streaming and the Cherry UM Series 3.0 is the closest to the sound quality of an XLR mic without killing your bank account. For the price and quality of all aspects of the mic (sound and build quality) this is easy to rate 5 stars and recommend to anyone looking for a great USB microphone that won't break the bank.
Super easy to get going. Just plugged it in and it appeared as a selectable device in System Preferences, and appeared with configuration options in Audio MIDI Setup utility. Sound quality is good. Totally suitable for gaming, podcasting, or meetings, and should be fine for music, too. I like that the headphone level control appears to actually adjust the output in the OS and not just act as an analog audio pad. The touch-mute does allow through a bit of a clunk when you touch it, but isn't bad if you're gentle.
This is a premium mic. The sound is crisp and clear. With it's cardioid design, you get the sound you want while it doesn't pick up from the back and sides. I like the output volume control on the back of the mic, used with wired earbuds to monitor input levels. Speaking at normal levels is well picked up. I am using it for video chats as well as video creation and voice overs. The mic is heavier (more sturdy) than I expected. The "touch mute" on the top of the mic is also very handy! I now wonder why I didn't get one of these sooner. I highly recommend!

I really like this microphone; the output is clear and strong. I mainly got this for zoom meetings but have repurposed it for my gigs in Vegas. This mic is all steel construction, the touch mute is very handy when on my zoom calls, I look to expand its use to some game streaming. I'd recommend this mic for all of your computer needs!
