France will provide Ukraine with grants of EUR 71 million, which will be used, among other things, to strengthen the energy sector, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal said following a meeting with French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure on Thursday.
"We also signed a document on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. With this, we are laying a solid foundation for deepening the strategic partnership and forming a framework for the recovery and modernization of Ukraineβs energy sector," Shmyhal wrote on his Telegram channel Thursday.
He thanked French partners for 50 shipments of humanitarian energy aid, including more than 140 high-capacity generators.
"France has also directed EUR 5.7 million to the Energy Support Fund. Special thanks to the French government for its decision to supply an additional 150 generators to Ukraine in February. Together with France, we are implementing three important infrastructure projects to strengthen regional energy systems. We see the engagement and readiness of French companies to continue and deepen cooperation," Shmyhal added.
