Ukraine to benefit from Gulf war, acts as security contributor – experts

2 min read

Ukraine is among the countries benefiting from the war in the Gulf region while increasing its role as a guarantor protecting Middle Eastern nations from military threats, notes Director of the Intermarium Institute Valentin Haidai.

"There are 2 or 3 countries that potentially benefit from this conflict, paradoxical as it may seem. The first is Israel... The second is Russiaβ€”though it is debatable whether it wins or loses more... But the third country that wins is Ukraine, because Ukraine shares its colossal and universal experience in countering drones, enhancing its role as a security guarantor and a reliable partner," Haidai said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

In turn, Vice-Rector of the European University Serhiy Yahodzinsky emphasized that Ukraine "does not sell war to the Middle East" but instead offers security tools.

"It is not for nothing that we speak of Ukraine as a security contributor. This is a very correct message. We are not selling war; we are offering a security vector," he said.

The expert stressed that current oil prices resulting from the Gulf war are "extremely unfavorable" for Saudi Arabia, which thrives on stability. "Ukraine today can offer exactly this context. Every technology that neutralizes or disables certain equipment makes these countries interested in us as an economic factor," Yahodzinsky noted.

Military expert and former SBU employee Oleh Starikov emphasized the importance of securing investments from Gulf countries after the wars end to restore Ukraine's economy through the development of the military-industrial complex. He reminded that Saudi Arabia had already invested in the Ukrainian defense industry prior to the full-scale war.
