The woodland mansion is a major setting that appears in A Minecraft Movie. It is a large complex settlement found in a dark forest that houses illagers, and contains one of two known Earth crystals in its loot chamber. It can only be found by those who know the way or who have a map from a cartographer villager.

Layout

The first floor of the mansion is populated by vindicators and is reached through the main door. It is unknown what loot, if any, can be found here. The second floor can be reached by a stairwell and is populated by both vindicators and evokers, as well as the fighting ring. The third floor can be reached with a stairwell and houses the loot chamber and is guarded by an enderman.

History

Before he was captured by Malgosha, Steve explored the mansion with Dennis, surviving long enough to learn the layout as well as a rumor of "sadistic vindicator fight" clubs. He also learned a second Earth crystal lay in the loot chamber. Steve made it out alive with at least a totem of undying and an ender pearl. Years later, he mentioned it fleetingly as a place to gain another Earth crystal, then showed Garrett and Henry his loot, said to be able to help them survive the mansion, but they left it all behind when the Piglins attacked Midport Village. When they reached the dark forest, Steve showed Garrett and Henry a model layout, which Garrett frowned upon. Steve and Garrett distracted the vindicators of the first floor with the Birthday Rap and the Crazy Train[1] songs, allowing Henry to reach the loot chamber. After the songs, the vindicators brought Steve and Garrett to their fight club and tied Steve to a corner, leaving Garrett free to face the chicken jockey. Henry made it to the third floor with vindicators on his heels, sent by an evoker. After some searching, he found the crystal and a diamond axe, the latter he used to kill an enderman to get an ender pearl. He then broke through the ceiling to reach Garrett and Steve. All three were chased onto the bridge by the angry vindicators.

On the bridge, Malgosha cornered them and showed off her new Great Hog. She also deployed several piglins armed with TNT, which attempted to kill Steve, Garrett and Henry. Garrett seemingly dies, sacrificing himself to help Steve and Henry.

Points of interest

[edit | edit source]

Bridge

[edit | edit source]

A bridge is located in front of the mansion's front entrance, connecting it with the opposite side of the cliff that it sits upon. When Steve, Garrett, and Henry tried to escape with the Earth crystal, Malgosha sent piglins to attack the three with TNT, which they used to destroy a large portion of the bridge's center. Garrett sacrificed himself to let Steve and Henry escape on a ghast.

Entrance hallway

[edit | edit source]

Located on the main floor of the mansion, the hallway is often guarded by vindicators. This is where Steve and Garrett distracted the guards to give Henry more time to find the second Earth crystal.

Fighting ring

[edit | edit source]

The fighting ring[2] is an arena on the first floor of the Woodland Mansion which resembles the Arena room in Minecraft. This is where Steve and Garrett fought the Chicken Jockey. Many vindicators tend to crowd around here to watch fights, and a crate hangs from the ceiling to unleash the baby zombie onto the unknowing chicken. The ring itself appears to be made of a terracotta platform, with wood posts at each corner and ropes stretched between them. These are not only the boundaries of the ring but also serve as weapons.

Loot chamber

[edit | edit source]

Located on the top floor of the mansion, the loot chamber has numerous rare items that are kept in chests. This is the room that Henry snuck into to find a second Earth crystal. The other items it houses include a diamond axe, a diamond sword, redstone, wheat, a golden apple, iron ingots, diamonds, a full bundle, and some steaks. The room is guarded by endermen who give nightmares to any intruders who look at it directly in the eyes.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Steve refers to the fighting ring as a "sadistic vindicator fight club", which is possibly a reference to Fight Club, a novel by Chuck Palahniuk.[citation needed]
  • In the novelization, the evoker sends "a swarm of vexes" after Henry instead of vindicators. They are described as "evil beings with iron swords" and shriek as they pursue Henry.[1]
    • It is possible that the film made them vindicators because vexes wouldn’t have been hindered by Henry slamming the door.
  • In the novelization, the vindicators were too stunned by the Birthday Rap to pursue Steve, Garrett, and Henry.[4]
