Mad wither is a condition in which the affected individual is unable to access memories from before contracting it. It is contracted from the wither storm.

Signs and symptoms

[edit | edit source]

The skin of the affected individual will appear pale, and their irises will appear purple. Its major symptom is the inability to access memories from before acquiring the condition, a case of retrograde amnesia. The individual does not experience any physical discomfort.

After getting out of the wither storm, the affected individual will only remember eternal darkness before getting out. They will gradually access vague memories after sometime.

Causes

[edit | edit source]

What causes it is unknown but it can be acquired by being absorbed by the wither storm.

Management

[edit | edit source]

The only known cure of mad wither is by destroying the wither storm. Since the affected individual does not experience any physical discomfort, they can continue their usual activities without limitation. However, their memory loss may lead to confusion or difficulty recognizing people and events. While there is no direct treatment, companions can provide reminders and support to help them navigate their condition until the wither storm is defeated.

History

[edit | edit source]

After seemingly killing the wither storm, the people consumed by it emerge, including Gabriel or Petra. Gabriel or Petra then saves Jesse from being pulled in by the command block. However, they do not remember Jesse.

They express confusion and fear as the people they once knew approach them, except for Jesse, to whom they show gratitude. Over time, they gradually begin to recall events from before their memory loss.

Once the wither storm is fully defeated, their amnesia is cured.

  • Despite having "wither" in the name, the condition does not cause the affected individual's body to decay.

Notes

[edit | edit source]
  1. ↑ "Mad" was written before "wither" because many of the files follow a naming scheme where the adjective comes after the noun, like "obj_appleGolden".
