Please help expand and improve it. The talk page may contain suggestions.

This is the list of features that are either completely new or derivative features that are available exclusively to Minecraft: Story Mode or Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two. This does not pertain to characters or gameplay. It should also be noted that all textures that Minecraft: Story Mode used as a base have become outdated due to the Texture Update and almost all textures were also additionally modified.

Unique additions

[edit | edit source]

These features are either features with completely new designs or concepts and are not derived from an existing design from Minecraft.

Blocks in the background

[edit | edit source]

Objects

[edit | edit source]

Structures

[edit | edit source]
  • Overworld Portal
    • Portals that differ in frame materials and portal block colors. Entering a portal from outside its designated Overworld transports the user to that Overworld. Entering it from within its designated Overworld redirects the user to the portal network.
    • The feature is notably similar to the portals composed of funky portal blocks from the April Fool's update 20w14∞.
  • Tower of the Warrior
  • Tower of the Builder

Sounds

[edit | edit source]
  • Notably frog chirps in swamps, waterfall rushing, and wind. Similar to the unused audio loops.
  • Crafting Sound Effect
  • Alternative Lever and Piston Sounds
    Lever Sound Effect 1
Lever Sound Effect 2

Visual effects

[edit | edit source]
  • Armor Stand Light
  • Bloom Effect from Any Light
  • Reflective Texture of Water in Season Two
  • Waving Motion for Foliages

World features

[edit | edit source]
  • Giant Coral
    • Large branching corals seen around the Sea Temple, built using orange and red wool to represent coral blocks.
  • Giant Seaweed
    • Large block-built seaweeds can be seen in the Doom Sea, built using green wool to represent seaweed blocks.
  • Palm Tree
    • A tree seen near Nell's house in Beacontown and along the shores of the Doom Sea. Built using jungle logs and jungle leaves, with the leaves having a 90Β° rotated texture.
  • Smaller Islands Surrounding the Main End Island
    • Season One was made before the Combat Update. Other than the main island being much smaller, there were other islands floating around it. The other islands have dark, blocky obsidian-like tentacles sticking out of them.

Altered designs

[edit | edit source]

These are features that were taken from Minecraft that have simply been redesigned or modified and would not be considered separate from their derived feature.

Altered models

Altered textures

  • πŸ‘ Image
    Blue Flower
    • A blue orchid with a dark green stem and unique bud placement.
  • Grass and Grass Block
    • These have color in their texture instead of a biome tint. This creates unique grass colors in certain biomes such as a yellow-green color and an orange variant both in the badlands as opposed to the usual brown; a brown-green color and a dark green color both in the swamp.
  • Packed Ice
    • This has a slightly dark outline in the edges of its texture.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    πŸ‘ Image
    Redstone Torch

Texture variation

  • Many of the blocks have varied textures on the same kind of block to enhance the environment. Some notable blocks that have variant textures include the bookshelf, stone, grass, sand, red sand, stone, and other exclusive blocks. Each texture file for the block using a varied texture is 256Γ—256 pixels or 16Γ—16 block faces.
    • A lot of the files (such as the buildings at EnderCon or the landscape in the overworld) use multiple block type textures in the same file.

World features

[edit | edit source]
  • Trees
  • Witch Hut

Derived additions

[edit | edit source]

These are features that were taken from Minecraft that have altered designs that are enough to be separate from the original.

Blocks from the background

[edit | edit source]
  • Dark Oak Bookshelf
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Asphalt
    • A slightly darkened texture of stone turned 180Β°.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Town Fair Building A Cobblestone
    • Cobblestone with a red tint.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Withered Mushroom
    • A purple glowing mushroom found inside the wither storm.
  • Snowy Short Grass
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Main Hall Pumpkin
    • A darker version of the pumpkin.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    White Pumpkin.
    • A white variant of the pumpkin. Like the pumpkin, it also has a carved form. In the White Pumpkin's mansion, there is a pumpkin that can change one's voice.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    White Jack o'Lantern
    • The white jack o'lantern's texture is actually blue to represent the darkness of the area and so it doesn't become confused with the White Pumpkin. The whole block glows and it's face is a pink color. This suggests it contains a redstone torch or that the inside is pink. These replace redstone lamps hanging from the ceiling after the lights go out.
  • πŸ‘ Image
White Pumpkin Stem. The white pumpkin stem is similar to a regular one. It's notably white and grows white pumpkins.
  • Dark Prismarine Brick
  • Sea Lantern.
    • Alternative sea lantern texture. These are found in the Sea Temple along with sea lanterns but emit a more vibrant light than sea lanterns.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Dark Chiseled Quartz.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Dark Quartz.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Dark Quartz Lines.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Order Hall Dark Quartz.
  • Colored Redstone Lamp
    • A redstone lamp that emits colored light. Notable appearances are green lamps in PAMA, blue lamps in Ivor's lair and the Sea Temple, and red lamps in Romeo's creations. All lamp colors are: red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, pink, brown, and white.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Withered Redstone
  • Rocks
    • A small rock or clusters of rocks made of stone for the Overworld, and obsidian for the End.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Rope
    • Similar to the model of a fence, but has the texture of a lead knot. Minecraft Dungeons has a very similar block.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Blue Sandstone
  • Canyon Wall Red Sand
    • A dark and more contrast red sand.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Carved Sandstone
  • πŸ‘ Image

  • White Sand and Sandstone.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Withered Sand
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Ellegaard's Courtyard Stone
    • A darker version of stone. There are also dark versions of cobblestone, stone bricks, etc.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Moss Covered Stone
    • Distinct from mossy cobblestone. Seen mainly in pathways.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Pyramid Beacon Stone
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Town Fair Stone Bricks A
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Town Fair Stone Bricks B
  • Terracotta Stairs
    • Stair variants for terracotta (called hardened clay in the game files) and it's colors.
    • More hardened clay colors. The texture varies depending on the color sometimes resembling concrete or concrete powder. There is notably a proper white, a pine color, and tan.
  • Wool
    • Because Season One was made before the World of Color Update, most of the wool uses the old colors. However; it also uses a much broader spectrum of colors probably similar to how leather armor works, but they aren't often used. Notable colors are dark pink and golden. Despite Season Two updating the wool colors, the old ones are still used alongside the new ones.

Objects

[edit | edit source]

Visual effects

[edit | edit source]
  • There is a wider use of particles such as the generic smoke particle can be seen used as floating dust, falling dust, and geysers in the Underneath.
  • Snowball particles when iron golems are created.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    Blue Flame
    • This variety of flame was made before soul fire and is emitted by blue fireballs.

Functional additions

[edit | edit source]
  • Horizontal Iron Bars
    • Similar to how carpet is placed.
  • Manual Iron Door
    • Iron doors that don't require redstone power to open.
  • Glowing Lapis Lazuli Ore
