Iron golems are inorganic constructs that attack monsters and can be commanded by their creators. They are constructed with four blocks of iron and a carved pumpkin.

Iron golems are fiercely loyal to their creators, and obey their commands. They also attack any hostile mobs they see. They also attack humans if provoked. However, they are not very diligent, and can be easily distracted. For example, if Jesse decided to rescue Lukas from Ivor's basement in The Order of the Stone, the golem was distracted by Reuben's noises.

During Jesse's group's encounter with Ivor in the hall's basement, Ivor constructed an iron golem and ordered it to attack, causing the group to flee outside. Jesse could then decide to return to the basement for Lukas and distract the golem while it guarded the area around Lukas' hiding place. Jesse and Lukas successfully escaped.

After Jesse's group and Soren escaped the End, they encountered monsters in front of the End portal room. Soren instructed Jesse to pull a lever, which caused carved pumpkins to fall down onto the iron block constructs, creating iron golems. The golems then killed all the monsters. Soren later commanded the golems to climb onto one another so he could reach and retrieve the super TNT.

If Jesse chose to accompany Petra and Milo during the intentional arrest of Ivor and Lukas, Jesse and Petra were taken into the Build Club. The members disapproved of Jesse and Petra's presence and was challenged to prove themself. Jesse could then choose to build an iron golem if they had the required materials. The members, along with Milo, reacted in fear at the sight of the golem, and one member even collapsed. The golem was later seen fighting the monsters in Sky City and will also followed the citizens down to the surface. It then cheered after Isa, Milo, and Jesse's speeches.
