In Minecraft: Story Mode, a mob refers to any creature that appears throughout the story. Many are essential to the story and interact with the main characters. Others serve as background characters or temporary obstacles.
Unlike the video game term "mob", which refers to AI-driven mobile objects (a meaning that exists outside the fictional world), the term is instead used in-universe. For example, Olivia says, "Ugh, all these mobs. Where does it end?" during a QTE in Order Up!, and Jesse says, "LET GO! We're all just a bunch of happy mobs, right? LET GO!" in Access Denied. Only a few creatures are AI-driven, and only during combat segments.
There are several kinds of mobs exclusively found in Minecraft: Story Mode that are not present in Minecraft, the original game.
