Purpose of the bundle

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 December 20245 comments5 people in discussion

This was somewhat confusing to read. Is the purpose of the bundle to allow different types of items to share the same inventory slot, totaling up to one stack? Such as 32 arrows and 32 torches? 104.222.30.243 18:06, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Yes; how else could it be read?  Nixinova T  C   18:12, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

I want one in bedrock edition

I believe it would allow one stack of items to take up one inventory slot, such as having a full set of armor, a sword, some torches, and food in a bundle that add up to one stack (64) of items.--47.156.195.70 14:42, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

The fakeimage describing how items are attributed to stack sizes in the bundle is horribly confusing at first glance. Essentially, it tries to explain that bundles can hold 64 points of items. A stick is worth 1 point, an ender pearl is worth 4 points, and a sword is worth 64. The way this is presented does not assist understanding of this concept, since it looks like those items are all inside the bag already. I think there's gotta be a better way to explain this concept visually. I appreciate the attempt.

Also, to explain to the above users: If you put a pickaxe and a shovel in the bundle, it would use an impossible 128 out of 64 points. The purpose of a bundle is to allow players to increase the amount of slots in their inventory without increasing its maximum capacity. It's best not to think of this as a smaller shulker box. There's another example below where someone uses it as a monster loot bag, freeing up slots in their inventory that would have been bloated previously. Pseudoenigma (talk) 06:13, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Wouldn't it be cool if like if you put blocks in a bundle and then placed down the bundle then it would randomize the blocks WABAFETzx (talk) 04:51, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Bundles in Bedrock ONLY?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 19 January 20224 comments3 people in discussion

Am I reading this correctly, that bundles are no longer going to be added to Java Edition? If so, where did this info come from? I was really looking forward to bundles. SirDaddicus (talk) 19:54, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

I don't know what to make of it. The history section of the article has only Java Edition information, and nothing at all about Bedrock. Bundles are already there, just not readily accessible. Amatulic (talk) 16:38, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
So, should we change that banner at the top that says Bedrock (and not Java)? SirDaddicus (talk) 21:19, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Okay I've added the exclusive java banner for clarity.--Pneuma01 (talk) 04:17, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Stacking

Why stacked iron swords? The example inventory of the bundle isn't accurate to vanilla. – Unsigned comment added by Iuyfgdejkourfychnm (talkcontribs) at 15:21, 22 May 2022‎ (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

Yes it is. There is no stacking shown. Read the caption. The 64 indicates the number of slots a sword consumes in a bundle. Amatulic (talk) 16:01, 22 May 2022 (UTC)

Stacking question

[edit source]
Latest comment: 4 October 20244 comments4 people in discussion

if a custom item is created that stacks to something other than 64 16 or 1, does it take up a different amount of space in a bundle? if yes, what does Minecraft use to determine this? or would I have to define it myself? 166.181.252.246 21:12, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

I don't know, but my guess is that it would default to 1. -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  21:15, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Based on a quick glance at the code, I think that the bundle determines how full it is based on fractions of a stack. For example, if you added 16 of an item that stacks to 25 to the bundle, I think the bundle would be 1625×100 = 64% full. Rampage455 (talk) 21:55, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
In-game testing in 24w40a shows that this is indeed the exhibited behavior; items take up <number of items>/<max stack size> of a bundle's capacity. Sightnado (talk) 17:12, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

I'm trying to figure whether I can use the scroll wheel to select an item within a bundle, but the History section doesn't specify when said ability was implemented.

https://minecraft.wiki/w/Bundle?diff=prev&oldid=2661145 the article change was in 2024 and I'm playing a version from 2023 - v1.20.1

--FeedbackBot 11:50, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
This change was introduced in 24w33a (1.21.2 snapshot). The history section had an entry about this ("The tooltip has been updated to a sub-menu, wherein the player can now scroll to select an item to take out."), but now it has been clarified and expanded a bit.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 15:38, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

Usage graphic and caption are very confusing. There must be a better way to effectively and efficiently explain this to readers, no?

--FeedbackBot 13:45, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
It is explained as best as possible with the mechanics of the bundle in mind. BDJP (t|c) 04:11, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

how does one scroll through the contents of a bundle whilst using a controller?

--FeedbackBot 13:58, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
This is done by moving the right stick. The page has been updated to describe controller and touch controls. Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 22:50, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

There is a typo here: This article is about item in the game. Fix this please.
How to fix this: Change to "This article is about the item in the game."

Bundle Tutorial?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 9 February1 comment1 person in discussion

In the history section copied below, it references a tutorial when first having a bundle in the inventory. I feel like that tutorial should be added to this page. I don't recall ever seeing it in my playthroughs.

21w05a The player now receives a tutorial when first having a bundle in the inventory.
