After some testing, the growth rate of once every 2-4 minutes seems to be false. Can somebody look at the code and figure out the actual rate? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.185.3.145 (talk) at 19:26, 15 January 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- I've also had problems: left a cactus on sand, with no adjacent blocks horizontally, diagonally, or vertically, for half an hour. Looked at it in debug mode: age 0. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.17.213.32 (talk) at 9:07, 24 February 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I'm not sure how to stylize the edit properly, but as of 1.14 mobs do clearly avoid cactus, making a wall of it far less useful. 96.59.186.8 21:29, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
Can someone add that it gives 1 XP point per item smelted/ cooked?

Is there confusion about the difference of ITEMS and BLOCKS? Could it be written more clearly? Cactus dropped as ITEMS are destroyed right? /188.150.209.166 10:11, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- No confusion. Cactus BLOCKS are not destroyed when dropping on a cactus. Other blocks (like sand) are destroyed when falling on a cactus. Cactus ITEMS are destroyed when dropped on a cactus. The sentence is correct in saying that it excludes cactus blocks. But yes, it could be stated better. Amatulic (talk) 19:16, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- I modified the paragraph to clarify the distinction. Amatulic (talk) 21:19, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- Tnx, much bettet i think. Could even the last sentence in that paragraph be removed now? /188.150.209.166 07:44, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- Well, I've observed when I hold a cactus and drop it as an item on the ground, the cactus item disappears. Amatulic (talk) 05:32, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- No such link existed. I searched for "taller" across the entire article and only found two mentions of that word which were not set up as links. Furthermore, nothing was found when searching for that phrase in fhe search bar. BDJP (t|c) 01:50, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- It was fixed in this edit, 4 minutes after this feedback. 👁 Image

- We should probably add the height of the tallest possible cactus to this page, a section about taller cacti in the trivia section is probably the move here. MeowMeow123 (talk) 02:27, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- It used to be link to a subsection in gallery containing screenshots of >3 block high cacti. The gallery section was later restructured, but no one bothered fixing/removing the link.--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 02:21, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
Mostly, cactus is spelled like cacti. Is there a reason due to that alternative spelling? I’m not understanding! IronSculkJungle7643 (talk) 15:54, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
- I think "cacti" is being used to describe columns of cactus blocks that resemble real world cacti. I guess it's somewhat like talking about trees; you wouldn't say that arrangements of oak logs and oak leaves can be found in plains biomes, you would just say that oak trees can be found in plains biomes. I would also say that "cacti" should not be used interchangeably with "cactus blocks"; if you find any instances where "cacti" is being used for the plural of "cactus block", that probably needs to be changed. Rampage455 (talk) 19:19, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
- Wait…I think you’re talking about oak trees due to that thing you said the oak logs and oak leaves. Anyways, tnks to the help, Rampage455! IronSculkJungle7643 (talk) 20:04, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
- No...
- Cacti is the plural of Cactus
- Same with "Octopi", which is borrowed from Latin
- "Cacti" just means multiple cactus plants Vazios-7 (talk) 00:27, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- What does “Octopi” means anyway? IronSculkJungle7643 (talk) 12:01, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
- It's the plural of octopus. 👁 Image
