Items obtainable by bartering should be listed under renewable products of gold Obsidian23894 (talk) 13:44, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Why are the Sculk blocks underneath Blackstone and Bamboo?

Sculk blocks under random blocks/items

Latest comment: 29 April 20255 comments5 people in discussion

All sculk blocks, excluding the sculk catalyst are under Beetroot Seeds, Basalt, Moss Blocks, Dyed Terracotta, Bucket Of Mob, Sea Pickle, Blackstone, Bone, Cactus, Clay, Cobblestone and Stone, Cocoa Beans, Dirt, Dripstone, End Stone, Flowers, Fungi, Gravel, Ink Sack, Moss Block, Nether Quartz, Netherrack, Podzol, Pointed Dripstone, Rooted Dirt, Sand, Sapling, Sea Pickle, Soul Sand, Stick, and Dyed Terracotta. I don't think there's any way to get the sculk items with these blocks/items. CyberBear IV (talk) 16:24, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Following this, I'd love to see an explanation. Aepokk Vulpex (talk) 07:15, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Furthermore, the question no longer really applies, as the page was completely rewritten. But hey, I can still give you an explanation. The old system defined "renewable products" as things that are produced by any process that starts with the "resource" item, quite often adds other items, and results in the "product" item. Sculk was the result of a particularly ridiculous chain, being something like: bucket of cod -> live cod -> bone meal -> white dye -> white terracotta, which can then be transformed to sculk. Absurdness of this system was one of the main reasons of my rewrite. Melwin22 (talk) 16:50, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Proposed rewrite

[edit source]
Latest comment: 30 April 202512 comments7 people in discussion

This page is written in a very weird way, which was already mentioned above and on Discord multiple times. Following the User:Unavailablehoax's idea, I have created a proposed rewrite for this page, which would also replace most of the Renewable resource page as well. The proposed rewrite is less than half as long as the current page (in terms of bytes), but encompasses more resources and more methods of acquiring them. This is because the current page has enormous amounts of redundancy which is not needed for any practical purposes. For example, I know that torchflower seeds can in theory lead to calibrated sculk sensors via orange teracotta, but this information is really pointless, as player can do the same with uncolored teracotta, which they need to get anyway.

Any feedback on the proposed rewrite is welcome. --Melwin22 (talk) 13:14, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Strong support - Your suggeted rewrite is a lot better and detailed than what it is right now. πŸ‘ Image

Strong support - Shorter, more straightforward, and more detailed? Count me in. Aepokk Vulpex (talk) 07:19, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Strong support - I couldn't find the info I was looking for on the current page, but I found it on your rewrite. Since there have been no objections, I don't see any reason not to implement this immediately. AccidentallyLezlie (talk) 06:25, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Strong support per everyone else. Why ever not? There is practically nothing at all that means we shouldn't. Just one thing: maybe the types of eats to get things should be listed at the top so that people know where to look to find a specific resource? -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  14:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Reorganized. Does it look better now? Also, I'm not sure what to do about vaults... Melwin22 (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
Okay, page changed to a new version, together with the Renewable resource. Let’s now see how community reacts. Melwin22 (talk) 20:28, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
It is very good πŸ‘. - πŸ‘ Image

Could you perhaps add definitions to the types of renewables? I have no idea what "Compound resources" are and can't find an explanation. -Randy, RandyFromIdaho 02:09, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
The definitions are given on the Renewable resource page. The "list of renewable resources" is really just a subpage of that, not a standalone page, so I thought it's alright. Melwin22 (talk) 16:41, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Ah, ok. -Randy, RandyFromIdaho 19:25, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Dispenser, fox and farmer

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 December 20252 comments2 people in discussion

Some ways to renew items can be done without the player, but rather by the dispenser, the fox, or the farmer.

For example:

  • Bread, wheat, seeds, potatos, beets, carrots, and bone meal[1] can be produced by the farmer.
  • Sweet berries and glow berries can be harvested by the fox.
  • Buckets, whater buckets, glass bottles, water bottles, and honey bottles can be created using the dispenser.

In all these cases, a unique item is not being created, but rather something similar to what the player could do.

I'm unsure if these are considered different origins of the items or not.

Only the bread creation is currently listed on the page.

In the case of the dispenser, I listed items that can be created within the dispenser's own inventory. This is slightly different from an item being created by its action (such as shearing a sheep with shears in the dispenser).

  1. ↑ This can be obtained either by the farmer using the composter and catching us before him, or, if the bone meal is already in his inventory, he can use it and if we kill him there is a chance of it dropping. In the second case, I'm unsure if it's a renewable way to obtain the item, since it requires the farmer to already have the item in their inventory. However, they can produce bone meal on their own, without player assistance.

They are not because no new item is created in that process, except for crafting the bread. The other plants must already exist to be harvested, so they are not "origins". ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 03:00, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

To use or not to use {{flatlist}}

[edit source]
Latest comment: 16 February3 comments3 people in discussion

The latest edition, 3439761, removed all {{flatlist}} templates. Personally, I preferred the templates, especially considering parts where the list of blocks or items was much larger than their description. The analogy is simply that one side is a list of items/blocks and the other is a list of descriptions, where it makes sense for only one to be reduced.

I don't know how to decide this. Aloi4 (talk) 18:24, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

I think the flatlist templates should be kept. πŸ‘ Image

Sorry for not discussing it before the change, I'm quite new to wiki-ing in general.
In my opinion, {{flatlist}}s look rather clunky, especially when there are a lot of blocks. However, in my edit I did consider it, leaving longer lists as {{flatlist}}s, to reduse the length of (an already long) article.
I understand that this is simply an issue of personal aesthetics, so I won't attempt on changing it again. Velll (talk) 18:49, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
