Greetings and welcome to my user page. I am 404_11, but you can call me Four.

I've had this username since 2011 when I created my Minecraft account, and it has stuck around, so whenever a website/platform/game/whatever doesn't allow me to use an underscore or just numbers, I weep, so I'm suck with 404-11 for the wiki, but let's pretend it says what it's supposed to.

Where does my username come from? I was 13 when I took interest in Minecraft, Herobrine was quite popular around that time as were creepypastas, and Music Disc 11 was real mysterious spooky like. These factors led to me creating an OC of a miner that got involved with Herobrine, and as a result got a pickaxe to the head. He had a Ghostly/Husk appearance, with pale white skin, hands and feet reduced to bone, and covered in blood with a hole in his head. 404 means not found, so in a digital context it could be spooky, and 11 came from the Music Disc.

Looking back at it, I find this story I made, as the scholars say, "a bit cringe".

Now I'm just a Gay Furry Alligator, which is not cringe at all.

I like playing Minecraft, even if not as much as I used to. What I like most is playing with other people and making builds and farms for everyone to use and enjoy.

This page will just be random ramblings and opinion pieces from me, so pardon my disjointed structure.

Cape distribution is starting to suck

[edit | edit source]
πŸ‘ Image
Nice cape, shame you won't know if you got it during the 3 days it was available.

I like that we're getting new capes, making them less exclusive is good, however, with the last 3 events, it has revealed inefficiencies and technical problems that has turned cape distribution into a bit of a nightmare. This is a story in 3 parts;

πŸ‘ Image
To copper or not to copper.

[edit | edit source]

With the copper cape we had 7 days to get it, and we had two options, we either did a challenge in Bedrock Edition, and wait 30 days maybe to get it, OR, you get a code from Twitch/TikTok and that way you're 100% sure you have it and you can rest easy knowing you have a receipt to complain if it doesn't show up. So I just got it from Twitch, those images on the cape page showing what it looked like on Twitch come from me. And thankfully I got it via a code, because I have seen several stories of players not getting the cape because they tried obtaining it by doing the challenge in game, and I guess Bedrock had an aneurysm with the verification code or something.

This does not bode well...

πŸ‘ Image
Petah, the Horse isn't here...

[edit | edit source]

And then, the Zombie horse cape showed up, and we got ONLY 3 DAYS to get it, exclusively by playing on BEDROCK. Now... pardon my prior knowledge of;

  • People being mad they didn't receive the copper cape from the challenge.
  • Microsoft's extremely lacking and now possibly 100% AI generated support.
  • Mojang taking sometimes weeks to respond to support tickets.
  • Bedrock edition being the most unstable buggy mess that takes minutes to load the cosmetics section.

... But I did not trust Bedrock edition to work and register that I speared 5 mobs, and I do not trust Microsoft to fix the problem if I end up not getting it in the span of 30 days, a probable full month of anxiety.

This sucks, Micro(Worth $3.556 Trillion USD)Soft has the resources and infrastructure to give out all the capes instantly the second it's unlocked, why it takes so long is a mystery to me, you should be able to KNOW what you did worked, but no one got the cape during the event, leaving many to record gameplay of them doing it as proof because they also don't trust this to work.

Might be the at the time recent Bedrock Edition 1.21.120 update (which moved their worlds to another folder with no warning, and if the game closed before it finished doing that process in the background it just deleted them) making players skeptical, who can say really? Heck I also recorded my attempts just in case.

Thankfully, at the very very least, after the event was over people got a notification saying "yes indeed you did it now you can wait 30 days without anxiety", but come on this is still a bit pathetic.

πŸ‘ Image
Builder? More like Schmilder.

[edit | edit source]

And then there's the Builder Cape. I knew one was going to be distributed, but no information was given as to how it'd be unlocked, you'd have to tune in to find out. Given it was TWITCHCON I felt watching it on Twitch was the best bet, and so I did that. As I was watching Minecraft LIVE LIVE, watching the pre-show, and then the event proper started, and suddenly I got the notification that I got the drop 5 minutes in, I couldn't have gotten it faster, it was near the first seconds (once again the Twitch wiki pics are mine).

But oh dear reader, things were not as it seemed, as I opened the drop in my window, no code in sight. After a couple days of wondering what happened, we got confirmation codes ran out. I had seen the Reddit post, with a Twitch support message saying codes ran out. Ok maybe I still have a chance I do have the drop unlocked maybe they're still handing them out to those that already unlocked them, so I also sent a support ticket. Nope, all gone, and this time I also got the exact time codes ran out, on hour 18 of this 16 day event..... Oh look they pinned a disclaimer on top of the Twitch support page, it now also says this information.... And you could still unlock the drop but with no codes....

So Microsoft/Mojang did a bunch of deals with Twitch, attended Twitchcon in person, making their first in person event in 10 years since Minecon 2016... and they only give a few codes to Twitch, leaving them with probably thousands of support tickets asking what's up, and all they could say was no more codes, cannot restock "in accordance to their promotional partner" (exact number of codes confidential due to contracts or something).

This does seem a bit ridiculous no?

To say I felt low levels of salt would be a lie.

0 disclaimer or transparency from Twitch, Mojang, or Microsoft, that Twitch codes were limited in numbers, or how many there were. Thankfully, I was able to get it via TikTok, but still, this was awfully handled, and now makes me wonder if TikTok also only has a set amount we're not privy to.

I learned a lot with this, and I made sure to record and preserve how this went down with Twitch on the wiki, as a warning, and as a reminder.

In the end, after uncertainty and no clarification that they were working on restocking codes, just that they wouldn't restock them, they did restock them, and extended the deadline to obtain the codes to make up for the days it straight up didn't work, so it wasn't 100% a disaster.

And so, I'll take the liberty of plastering this bad boy on top of the next Cape page that has Twitch distribution, carefully crafted to be as factual, neutral, and salt-less as possible;

Obtaining codes from Twitch Drops might be unreliable.

The previous event to obtain the Builder Cape did not disclose that the amount of codes given to Twitch was finite, and before a fix was issued it was unknown if they'd be replenished. Unlocking the Drop the second it became available did not guarantee a code would be given, even after technical issues from the influx of users were resolved. If you fail to obtain a code from a Twitch Drop, and another avenue to obtain it exists, do so with haste just in case.

Do better Mojang.

Java Edition forever

[edit | edit source]
This is what the game is, was, and always will be.

I ain't too happy with how Bedrock has taken over Minecraft on all platforms except PC, with all the predatory mobile game tendrils wrapping around it, microtransactions being a thing, real world cost of items being obfuscated through an in game currency, paid cosmetics being a thing, little to no freedom compared to its PC origin, and much more strict moderation.

All the parity issues just boggles my mind, leaves me unsure if some of it isn't on purpose to distance it from Java more. Combat still being stuck on 1.8 sure is a big one. As much as I wish we have better character customization in Java, I'll take the free custom skins every time.

Now to be fair, this is absolutely Microsoft's fault, return on investment and all, but it still does taint my perception of Mojang.

I do believe the original Java version is safe for now, to the chagrin of Microsoft that wants everyone in their walled garden of monetization, because if they stop updating it I believe there would be backlash of epic proportions.

They really can't take the 2009 indie gaming culture out of Minecraft, and that's a good thing.

Does suggesting a feature actually doom it?

[edit | edit source]

The days of organic community engagement are over, while in the past adding something to the game could be more spontaneous and involve the community more, this is Microsoft we're talking about, and as a huge company, no bits of code can be added without comity. I have seen so many Minecraft suggestion videos, developing resource packs and mods to showcase them in game to an audience, and while cool, my mind jumps to how one would even go about taking that suggestion and putting it in the game? While based on Minecraft, the suggestion still belongs to an individual, meaning there could be a legal need to credit them and even... *gasp* p-p-pay them for their work in coming up with it? Many suggestions are common and generic enough, but anything that specifies anything is more likely to just be thrown on the pile of "we're not gonna touch this idea due to legal stuff". So let's see what actually happens.

The End User License Agreement (EULA) (08/09/2025 version (gotta specify since it gets modified all the time who knows when it'll change)) says that "Your content is yours", but that is very vague and only specifies that what you build with the blocks is yours but not the blocks themselves. But further ahead in the "GENERAL STUFF" section, it stipulates that;

"If you come to us with a suggestion for Minecraft, that suggestion is made for free and we have no obligation to accept or consider it. This means we can use or not use your suggestion in any way we want and we don't have to pay you for it. If you think you have a suggestion that we would be willing to pay you for, please do not tell us your suggestion unless you have first told us you want to be paid and we have responded in writing by asking you to submit the suggestion."

So as it turns out, any suggestions you make, they own them, and can use them as they see fit with no credit. As much as this absolves them legally, the court of public opinion would tear them to shreds, given previous fan ideas got credited, if they stopped it would be a very very bad look.

If you did want to get paid for your suggestion, you would have to ask to be paid for it first, BEFORE submitting the idea. I doubt that people have been successful with this in the past at all, so this to me reads more like a "you have to ask us first so we can say no". If you want payment for an idea, this statement tells you to not bother if you aren't already a developer.

So in short;

  • Any suggestion you make you don't legally own it.
  • It can become a thing or not.
  • If it does get added, you might get paid but most likely you won't.
  • At most you might be credited due to community pressure, not legal obligation.

Do I have any dream updates or features I want added?

[edit | edit source]

Technically no.

I used to have all of these grandiose ideas of things that could be added, and I loved watching videos of people suggesting ideas and making mods in game to showcase them, but as the years rolled on by, nothing like that ever got added, and some features that did similar things were way scaled down. I grew more cynical in a way since Microsoft was put in charge, and the company grew bigger, meaning fan feedback was a lot harder to implement or listen to. Learning that fan suggestions are free real estate for Mojang to use if they want with no need for credit kind of sealed the deal, paying attention to what the community wants as a member of the community has led me only to disappointment. I've just learned to ignore those discussions, and to accept any new features for what they are, if anything else gets added then it's a bonus and a neat thing, but my hopes on wishing for specific things is kind of spent.

But, I did say "technically"....

The feature I want isn't a gameplay feature, but a more technical one...

I want the game to natively support mods. I remember the oh so infamous modding API that was once promised, but never really delivered. Instead a slow process started happening, cleaning up the code, making things more modular and modifiable, texture packs had more options and then data packs became a real thing, features became data driven, more recently obfuscation was removed which helps to code more mod features for the game. So many things that used to require a mod to expand coding capabilities and another mod build on top of that mod, are now just a vanilla feature you can change some values on and apply.

My hope is that this process speeds up and continues to allow more without the need for a separate launcher to apply patches to the game and such, custom blocks and items can't be added yet, but the base is there, and it would future-proof the game a lot.

My ideal multiplayer server

[edit | edit source]

Most of my playtime nowadays is in Multiplayer servers, and after many hours of play and different servers, I have compiled my thoughts into a list of personal requirements;

  • πŸ‘ BlockSprite grass-block.png: Sprite image for grass-block in Minecraft
    Vanilla game & textures - I want my builds to work and look good for the most people possible, so vanilla it is unless a lot of preparation is done for everyone to be on the same page. If Minecraft ever implements per world/server mods instead of having to launch a modified version for each unique combination like what Hytale does, then I'll interact with mods more, but for now nah.
  • πŸ‘ BlockSprite barrier.png: Sprite image for barrier in Minecraft
    Creative is banned - The point of survival is that if you want to build something, you gotta work towards it. However, some people seem to immediately get bored that you need to play the game to build stuff, and just switch to Creative to quickly make builds. Then what's the point in playing survival if you're just doing Survival Role-play with all those sweet builds you just spawned in the materials for and built it while flying? It has happened that some builds were made early on, and as the server evolves with more farms and tools, it just stays there as a blight on the other buildings that did take effort, like "I could have gathered the materials and built this with a bit of time, but instead this just got plonked down here". So if you think building stuff and gathering materials is boring, then just make a creative server.
  • πŸ‘ EnvSprite multiplayer.png: Sprite image for multiplayer in Minecraft
    All players are in close proximity and in big settlements - If I'm playing multiplayer, I want to be in a place with multiple players, shocking concept I know. Being able to share builds with others, and having them use and benefit from them is my main motivation, but there is a risk of people getting bored of a spot and making a nether warp tunnel to go someplace far away to make another base, now this isn't a a problem if it were several big cities with multiple people just further away, but with few players, it essentially becomes several singleplayer worlds that one can visit in a single world. To put it bluntly, this sucks, my existing builds become part of a hub ghost town that people occasionally pass through when they need something, and at that point why bother with connection issues and lower render distance of servers, if I can just get that same experience by playing single player and occasionally streaming or inviting someone on? If this happens, I'm like "why bother building something here if no one will see it?" and lose all motivation for doing anything big.
  • πŸ‘ ItemSprite gold-ingot.png: Sprite image for gold-ingot in Minecraft
    No server currency system (optional) - If a system already exists, I guess I can participate if I want something that only is available in it. Only problem is I'm kind of a dirty commie that wants to share all resources with others cuz we're in this world together, so if you want to implement some currency system, I will not interact with it unless I'm forced to lol.
  • πŸ‘ EnvSprite dimensions.png: Sprite image for dimensions in Minecraft
    Access to the world save for backups - Turns out that spending hours on builds means you grow attached to your work, and a server going down deleting all your builds seems like a bad thing to me, maybe you feel the same way. So if possible, I'd like a way to keep a backup of the world without having to download a mod that makes copies of multiplayer server worlds.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    No Chat/Skin reporting. - I get why they added this, but it was in the worst way possible pushed by Microsoft, because even if I have no intention of breaking the rules and being a rude rube, the risk that my account of 15 years being banned not only from the server where the report came from, but ALL multiplayer functionality is just too great. As a member of the LGBT+ and furry community, this safety feature actually makes me feel less safe, because I know what's been happening in bedrock with false reports, without proper reason, and no wider context included and non-existing human moderation to resolve issues, and part of our language will piss off AI moderation for sure. The spaces I frequent are for only adults and with friends, and Microslop coming in and trying to babysit us is not acceptable, so no regular multiplayer servers for me, too risky.
  • πŸ‘ Image
    No age verification requirement - This fresh hell is now a thing with governments pushing ineffective age verification measures to benefit some private companies that will have access to all your documents (that will be leaked in the future just as others already have just look at what happened with Discord). Many cybersaftey/security advocates and organizations have said that this is the wrong way to go about it, but corrupt politicians do not care, and Microslop is perfectly happy with implementing these draconian measures into Minecraft if it means keeping the money from those countries. So if your server needs this, I will never join it.

Mob/Biome Votes

[edit | edit source]

Before anything, let me say that

I am glad this event is gone

and I sure hope it never comes back.

Unlike the Biome votes, it was essentially a promise that whatever lost would never become a reality. Voting didn't feel like a fun event, it felt like "Pick what you want, or else...". With its discontinuation I hope the losers have a chance of coming back after the very intense heat dies down.

One of the losers, the Copper Golem was brought back from the dead, and people are very happy with it, so to everyone crying about defacing the democratic sanctity of the vote that Mojang themselves killed off future entries of, please submit your essay calling for the removal of the copper golem because it lost in 2021 for all to see, then we'll talk. Hopefully more of them will be brought back, but I won't hold my breath just yet.

I have seen some people attempt to defend it, gaslighting even, saying that it was a bad idea because now Minecraft live events don't get as much attention as they once did, but that's pure malarkey. Sure a building catching fire is good for the headlines, but I want the event space to not be a bloody civil war.

So here are my picks;

πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for Mob B, the Phantom, also known as "The Monster of the Night Skies" in the 2017 Mob Vote
Yeah, can you blame me? We were all dupped by this one. A flying mob? Finally! Anyways be sure to /gamerule doInsomnia false
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Taiga in the 2018 Biome Vote.
Gonna be honest I do not fully remember who I voted for here, probably the Taiga? Who knows. Looking back, I also can't really decide what would be best either, so meh...
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Mountains in the 2019 Biome Vote.
Between two coats of paint and actually changing how the volume of the world is shaped? This was the only correct option and boy it took em 3 updates to finish but we also got caves, best deal of all the votes and the other options are still a possibility! Swamps got done now we just need the Badlands.
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Iceologer in the 2020 Mob Vote.
This one was rigged for sure, the other two options were just set dressing, but the fact I always use Glow ink now just highlights how bad of an idea this whole ordeal was.
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Allay in the 2021 Mob Vote.
It was the most interesting and it won, what else is there to say.
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Sniffer in the 2022 Mob Vote.
There was a lot of promise with this one, unfortunately its main purpose is now showing people pictures of the ancient seeds as a hard trivia question most will fail.
πŸ‘ Image
404-11 voted for the Crab in the 2023 Mob Vote.
The nail that broke the camel's back. Crabs need to be added as an apology from Microsoft Mojang.

Minecraft Wiki video Archive

[edit | edit source]

Lost media sucks, and there's no better time to make backups than when the videos are still up. So to prevent wiki pages from becoming imcomplete or about a free video that just doesn't exist anymore, I'm keeping track using the Video Archive tracking list.

If it's less than 20MB, i gets uploaded to the wiki, if it's bigger in the Internet Archive it goes and it gets linked next to the embed.

How much does it cost to get all official Bedrock content?

[edit | edit source]

I was curious as to how much I'd need to spend to get all the content for Bedrock edition, so I tried to sum it up here in a very WIP Bedrock Complete Edition Total Price page. Unfortunately, there is a lot of content that got released officially, and the Wiki only recently started to actually keep track of it and creating pages for what already existed, so this information will have to wait for better cataloguing of all the items.

But just from a quick attempt, I can tell you that it is at the very least more than €1000 easily.

I've been here a while and edited a bunch of stuff so why not, featuring one of my favourite survival builds, an emerald storage bank.
