A piglin base is a piglin structure complex that houses a Nether portal in Minecraft Legends.
Piglin bases generate in groups of three or five (depending on difficulty), each group with its own horde type, and each base with a difficulty level from easy to medium to hard, with three types of the hordes in total. Unlike piglin outposts, they have a nether portal in their center that, if destroyed, causes all piglins and most structures within the base to vanish. They can be located within the Map with a nether portal icon, and are destroyed when the portal in the middle is destroyed.
If the maximum amount of Piglin bases is reached (three to five per horde depending on difficulty), and a base tries to build another one, the piglins "make an error" and damage it. At night, the base is slowly repaired and upgraded to a higher level.
Piglin bases have three levels indicated by piglin heads showing at a panel when entering the base: small, medium, and large. Four piglin heads represent a boss base. The larger the base, the higher the difficulty and the better the rewards granted.
The Night Beacon is a special multi-horde base appearing in the first progress of the game [verify]. At that time, the sky takes a purple color, piglins have red eyes, and the nether portal emits a purple beam upward. Once destroyed, the effect ends and the sky comes back to normal.
Once all the hordes go to the Overworld, they will occupy the homesteads and build a base near the homestead. If the base is destroyed and the homestead is freed, the piglins will attempt to recapture the homesteads during the night and when successful they will build another base near it.
Once all bases of the Horde of the Spore and the Horde of the Bastion are destroyed, a boss-level base of the respective horde will appear, respectively housing the Devourer and the Unbreakable. Destroying all Horde of the Hunt bases will cause the Beast to target a village for attack.
Over time, the hordes will begin to upgrade their bases at dusk, one or more per night or less frequently. If a base is successfully upgraded, it will increase in size, get more buildings, and become more fortified. If a base attempting to upgrade itself is disturbed by attacking it, destroying it or staying near it causes the base to fail upgrading. Piglins can also "make an error" and damage one of their bases if they decide to upgrade an already maxed out base or build another base from the maximum amount.
