Boom Town is a town full of griefers and ruined buildings. It was created by Magnus the Rogue. It is determinantly traveled to in Assembly Required to recruit Magnus. However, this also caused the town to be destroyed by the wither storm.

History

[edit | edit source]

If Jesse chooses to go to Boom Town in Assembly Required, they, along with Reuben and Axel, fall to the ground after exiting the floating Nether portal. While navigating Boom Town, they inadvertently trigger numerous traps. Using the amulet to locate Magnus, they encounter griefers who steal it. After a chase, they successfully retrieve the amulet and proceed to Magnus' tower.

Jesse convinces Magnus to join their effort to stop the wither storm. As part of their plan, Jesse and Magnus stage a match in the Death Bowl, which results in Jesse being declared the new King of Boom Town. However, shortly after, the wither storm arrives, destroying the town and absorbing its inhabitants.

If Jesse chooses to go to Redstonia instead, Axel travels to Boom Town alone to recruit Magnus. Upon succeeding, Axel is declared the King of Boom Town.

In Hero in Residence, Boom Town is hosting its own Founding Day celebration, where Axel serves as a judge for a TNT Rally.

If Magnus died, they annually honor him with explosions. If he did not, he let Axel design the fireworks finale in the year Season Two took place.

Location

[edit | edit source]

Boom Town is located in a desert biome somewhere to the west in the overworld, as shown on the Order's tracking device's map. It can be easily traveled to by using the nether minecart system.

Architecture

[edit | edit source]

Boom Town is set in a desert biome with many ruined buildings, due to the many griefers. The buildings are mainly made of bricks, stone bricks, oak planks and fences, oak logs, windows, and acacia stairs. A nether portal serves as one of the Os in Boom Town's title "Boom Town" with the rest of the letters made of white or red wool.

Culture

[edit | edit source]

Boom Town is characterized by its anarchic and competitive culture, with a strong emphasis on explosions and destruction as central elements of daily life. The residents exhibit a high tolerance for risk-taking, often engaging in activities involving TNT and other volatile materials. Explosions occur frequently and are considered a defining feature of the town's identity.

Administration

[edit | edit source]

Boom Town operates without a formal system of governance, relying instead on an anarchic structure where individuals act independently. Despite this, Magnus the Rogue is recognized as the "King of Boom Town," a title reflecting his status as the town's most respected and influential figure. His title can be claimed by anyone who defeats him in a challenge known as the Death Bowl, a competition that embodies the town's values of chaos and destruction.

Magnus frequently hides within Boom Town, and locating him is a prerequisite for issuing a challenge. If Jesse visits Boom Town during the events of Assembly Required, they defeat Magnus and become the new king. Alternatively, if Jesse chooses to visit Redstonia, Axel claims the title after defeating Magnus.

In Season Two, if Magnus has died, Axel is presumed to have taken over as the new leader of Boom Town.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • If Jesse goes to Boom Town, they never go back, and nobody challenges them, meaning they are still the king throughout the rest of the story.
  • The nether portal being an O in "Boom Town" is a similar feature in the tutorial worlds with a nether portal hidden inside the "Minecraft" logo.
  • There are posters of Magnus in a bowler hat, but he is never seen in one in the game.
  • The sign next to the nether portal leading to Boom Town reads as "!!Bo0mtoWn!!". This is an implementation of formatting codes from the base game.
