MHF_Guardian is apparently also non-official

According to this Reddit thread where someone else claims to own it. Anomie x (talk) 00:45, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

That is helpful to know, though I don't think it was ever added to our list. A note to prevent it from being added in the future cannot hurt though. KnightMiner t/c 00:56, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that was my intention. Anomie x (talk) 11:01, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

MHF_Apple Head

[edit source]
Latest comment: 29 December 20152 comments2 people in discussion

I looked up "minecraft enderman head" and found a page that mentioned apple heads. It worked (/give), but it doesn't mention it on this page. That makes me think: maybe there's more? I even found a cat one on my own that has a Santa hat (MHF_Cat). EDIT: I also just remembered that the page mentioning apple heads also mentioned dirt (and other blocks) heads –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.60.80.171 (talk) at 17:39, 29 December 2015 (UTC). Give Player Head

[edit source]
Latest comment: 23 February 20184 comments3 people in discussion

Is there a way to give each player their own head?

--MCweb 02:20, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

The data values section here is bad or out-of-date, and to fix it properly I'll have to dig around, maybe tomorrow. The command that gets your own head is:
/give @p skull 1 3 {SkullOwner:YourUserName}
Each getting their own, I'm not sure.
Sealbudsman talk/contr 06:40, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
That works fine in versions up to 1.12.2, but no more in 1.13 due to change in syntax of /give in 17w45a. Should that be mentioned in the page? –Erufailon4 (talk) 16:02, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
If strings were included in 1.13's execute store functionality, this would be possible.

Possibly Legit MHF Heads

[edit source]

I found the following Heads also work but they could just be players MHF_Shulker MHF_Witch MHF_Wolf MHF_Guardian MHF_Rabbit MHF_Endermite MHF_Wither MHF_Enderdragon MHF_SnowGolem MHF_Llama MHF_Stray MHF_Wither(MHF_WitherBoss was a players head and not legit) It would be great if someone could verify if they are legit or not.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.46.105.220 (talk) at 5 October 2016 (UTC). Wither in PE

[edit source]
Latest comment: 3 November 20162 comments2 people in discussion

Can someone add that in 0.16 of PE you can make the wither with wither skeleton skulls? I would like to do it myself, but I'm not an expert at editing tables. Thanks!

--SamGamgee55 (talk) 22:46, 2 November 2016 (UTC)SamGamgee55

Thanks, yeah, I put it on this page, and on the soul sand page. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 03:26, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Head NBT Questions

[edit source]
Latest comment: 24 February 20181 comment1 person in discussion

What does the signature tag do? How many textures can a head have? Can it have textures but not a UUID? Is the value tag still a base64-encoded image URL?

Obtaining player/dragon heads

[edit source]
Latest comment: 27 September 20213 comments3 people in discussion

There are apparently two contradictions. Number one:

Mob heads can be broken using anything, and will drop itself when broken.
 [...]
Dragon heads generate on end ships.

So dragon heads can be obtained from end ships, but there is also the following statement:

dragon heads cannot be obtained as drops.

You can absolutely acquire the dragon heads used as figureheads at the bow of End ships in v1.12.2. I can imagine that the statement which denies it was meant for killing Ender dragons, but this is not clearly expressed. I don't know if it's actually true or false.

Number two:

Player heads [...] cannot be obtained as drops.

But it is also said that:

If a player head has a custom skin, the skin will be preserved when broken.

If there are no player head drops, why would the skin matter? Is something missing here about a game rule, server setting or mod required for player head drops? —Codemanx (talk) 13:36, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Player and dragon heads are never dropped when players or ender dragons are killed. They can be obtained by other means (commands or naturally generated in the world, for dragon heads), so the information about their behavior as blocks is relevant. -- Orthotopetalk 21:32, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Page does not mention how one can obtain a Player Head in survival without cheats or commands. If it's intended to be obtainable via commands only, then the page should definitely mention this. MestreLion (talk) 12:52, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

When will the page be moved?

The result of the discussion was move. While the original suggestion of Skull was opposed, consensus seems clear to move to Head, and this discussion hasn't been very active recently despite a move notice being on the article. (For reference, the previous article title was Mob Head.) –Sonicwave talk 23:14, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Why's no one trying to move this page from Mob head to Skull? Can't someone or the admins do this faster? This wiki must be perfect since it's officialy used by Mojang. - 199.187.211.102 12:10, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Disagree, a Wiki should use the words people recognise and understand. Nobody calls them skulls, they're referred to as mob heads or heads. A wiki is for users, not developers: the internal name doesn't matter 51.9.143.139 20:02, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Mob head is not an official name though; and skull is the block entity they all use, and the ID in bedrock, the only thing they have in common; though this needs more discussing. FVbico (talk) 20:07, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Agree to move the page to Skull. It's the name since 1.13/Flattening and also it's the name on BE. --dr03ramos 👁 Image

Agree to move the page to Skull. 36.226.228.132 14:24, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Disagree because only two are skulls, but all five are mob heads. - tryashtar (talk) 20:02, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Disagree. Whether a term is official is irrelevant; usage matters more. "Mob head" (or "zombie head" or "creeper head" or whatever) is the common term. A skull is the bone structure inside a head, it isn't a head itself, and the mob heads in the game are actual heads, not skulls, except for two instances. And about those two: A head is not a skull, but a skull can be a head, therefore "mob head" is most appropriate. ~ Amatulic (talk) 07:13, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
👁 Image
Disagree The term "mob head" is more widely understood and used. Besides, as previously mentioned above, two of them are skulls and all five are heads.

I like the idea below- moving it to head, however... Mob Head and Head are both technically correct while Mob Head is a bit more specific. 24.98.61.206

Disagree I am against it because the term “mob head” is more generally understood and used. Two of them are also skulls and all five are heads, as mentioned above. "Mob Head" and "Head" are two similar terms and technically correct, but "Mob Head" is a bit more specific. --Atten007 (talk) 18:32, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

Official Skulls (BE)

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 April 20202 comments2 people in discussion

I tried to /give MHF_CoconutB on BE (Nintendo Switch) and it keeps running into syntax errors. Can someone change the official heads to be Bedrock-friendly? —71.220.202.145 19:58, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps read the notice on the top of that section... Bedrock has no heads from players (only the default player head), so no MHF heads either. FVbico (talk) 20:01, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

History doesn't reflect the changes to the UUID in the 1.16 version

[edit source]

In 1.16 the minecraft changed so that the UUID is now stored as an int array instead of as a string. This was changed in the data format, but the history section doesn't reflect this.

Adding C418 (Jukebox head) as "unofficial" MHF head?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 July 20201 comment1 person in discussion

The Jukebox article states the following in its trivia section:

  • C418 has the Steve skin with a jukebox for a head, likely because it was he who made most of the music for Minecraft.
    • Therefore, his head may be used as the MHF equivalent of the Jukebox.

So, should this be added to the "Mojang skins" section? It's not actually a part of the MHF collection, so... yeah. --Leo40Twitch (talk) 10:58, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

MHF_Piglin and MHF_Hoglin

[edit source]

MHF_Piglin's and MHF_Hoglin's heads are not mentioned but available in Minecraft 1.16.

MHF_Slime's skin has been updated, someone should update the wiki's image for its head

[edit source]

MHF_Slime has a new skin but the image for its head on the wiki still has the old skin's head. Someone should update it. --Arthur10123 (talk) 16:13, 23 April 2021 (Brazil time)

I found these heads myself, if you want proof, then use the commands! Stop reverting other people's hard work, because they spent enough time on true information! Heads should not be listed in drops tables

[edit source]
Latest comment: 20 February 20241 comment1 person in discussion

Do we really need a DropsTable in Piglin? They drop 1 fixed item, unaffected by looting.

Also, a charged creeper explosion can't be given looting anyways. Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, and Wither Skeleton should not have their heads / skulls listed in DropsTables.

Why is there no "mining speed" section for the "Head" entry? It is a block that can be placed and time must be spent when it is mined. How much time?

--FeedbackBot 06:48, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
Mining speeds are listed on the individual pages' "Obtaining" section. 👁 Image
