I didn't found under naturally generation that lava is generated with them. can anyone confirm this or have I overlooked someting? JorianPruim (talk) 13:21, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't know where else to say this, so I'll put it here.
There are several key differences between how it was before and my edit:

The renders on this page should be fixed/changed. The first render uses stretched textures, and Lava Revision 2.png shouldn't be used as the Bedrock edition lava render as the texture on Bedrock is not the same as the old Java texture.--Capopanzone (talk) 18:13, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I think lava spreading quicker in nether should be included in "others" category. Ceteri 213.76.78.244 22:45, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
With Dripstone filling cauldrons with lava doesn't that mean it's now a renewable block?– Unsigned comment added by 86.155.227.67 (talk) at 15:30, 25 February 2021 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~
It appears that lava no longer fully cancels falling damage -- at least, not in the same way water does. I was mining in the nether with a potion of Fire Resistance active, and I hopped off a high ledge into a lava flow to get down faster, before the potion ran out. Upon hitting the ground immediately beneath the flow, I died from falling damage, and nearly everything I was carrying fell into the lava flow around me. This may require further testing, but it definitely suggests it does not negate falling damage as described in the history section. 63.230.72.120 04:36, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
I can't seem to find any information on the topic, but given lava is a fluid just like water, is there a possibility of it also having a waterlogged functionality in the future? James_Silvercat (talk) 05:03, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
The main reason waterlogging was added was to prevent people from abusing air pockets in sea temples. Because lava is neither transparent nor contains any dungeons, it is unneeded, and thus vanishingly unlikely to be added. It would be neat, aesthetically speaking, but not worth mentioning in an article. 97.121.196.139 20:36, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
Lava pushes mobs in Bedrock edition. Could anyone change this in version history and remove java edition only tags? 157.46.114.80 09:14, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Of course lava blocks do not exist as items in Java Edition 1.8+ (14w25a+) but backporting the game to versions 1.7.10 (full) or 14w21b (snapshot) and backwards or modifying (modding) the Item (or Items in 1.13 and onwards) class to obtain them just as a normal block is possible. If you do not believe me, I posted a screenshot of this (the lava block "item" is seen):

Lava bubble particles spawn randomly in the game. When they hit an entity, they set the remaining time for the entity to catch fire, causing the entity including players to burn. The behavior of this fire particle needs to be added to the article.
I'm talking about the lava and lava_particle in the entry "particles". Additionally, in Java version, the subtitle "Lava pops" indicates the spawn of these particles. 2409:8A28:3182:3840:1843:183:A2EB:E254 13:40, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Lava#Fire spread - What does "Lava of any depth can start fires this way, whether or not it appears to have a current." mean?
The renders in the Bedrock history section are incorrect. I attempted to partially fix this and had my edits reverted.
Lava from 0.7.0 until 0.12.1 build 6 looked identical to Java Edition, with a procedurally generated texture using the same algorithm and side shading enabled. The very screenshot I was given when my edit was reverted in fact supports this (note the appearance of the flowing texture in particular). This is why I changed it to use the JE12 render, as it is the closest despite the name being off. 0.12.1 would later remove side shading on lava, but the Java procedural texture was still used at that point (a combination for which a render does not currently exist, hence the "needs images" template in that section). The procedurally generated texture was not replaced with a premade animation until 0.14.2, after side shading had already been turned off.
The supposedly "correct" render for 0.7.0 shows the premade animated texture (again, compare the appearance of the flowing texture with the screenshot) while still having side shading enabled. This combination never existed in any version of the game.
So, there should actually be four different renders here:
All of this was verified by me loading up old PE versions on an android phone a few months ago. I don't currently have the tooling set up to make new renders though, so until someone else is able to do that I feel like it makes the most sense to use the closest existing render here which in this case is the JE12 version. Otherwise I'd worry that someone later going to create updated BE2 and BE3 renders would not realize what it was supposed to look like and get them wrong again. - VRadExe (talk) 20:54, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
I think this page should mention lava's unique feature as a fluid to partially cushion falls dependent on fall height and thickness of lava layer. if i do some tests could and find out how much it cushions fall damage could i have help adding that data to this page? I am not sure why the damage says 4. In my experience playing Minecraft, I feel like it is 8. Can we make sure we have the correct number? Minecraftking (talk) 14:59, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm looking for information on filling lava lakes. I believe gravel and scaffolding are the quickest/best ways to displace/replace lava blocks? But I'd like some confirmation. Gravel breaks, and doesn't work if soulsoil is underlying a column of lava, if what I've seen is vanilla minecraft.
