All of these find users make Userboxes:
Thank you, TheIanM2002 03:11, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- I've started making a few userboxes too, see here. Another thing, your wiki links, some of them are dead, and they don't actually go to a list of the users' userboxes. AwesomeMan31415926 (talk) 09:14, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- That's because this user posted it before the Gamepedia migration, which changed a lot of usernames. That user has also not been online in over a year, so they are very unlikely to see your reply. βKnightMiner Β· (t) 15:33, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure this page actually belongs in this namespace. I think I'd prefer to see it in Templates. While it isn't a template per se, it is simply a list of templates. -- Wynthyst π Image

- Well, they're mildly entertaining, but the userboxes don't format and flow properly... I had to stick them in a table to get them to line up properly and not mangle the formatting for my userpage. --Mental Mouse 19:34, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Hello. Due to my tendancy to "boggle things up" I'd like a userbox that says "This user has inate moments of idiocy. Sorry." and the picture would be a facepalm. It's basicly a copy of the one from the tfwiki usereboxes.
If anyone could make one for me or walk me through making one, that'd be great :D Robstar14... anything but! 15:20, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

I think this page would benefit from a section dedicated to Wiki stuff. It would contain activity counters, online/offline badges, joined date, and etc. The popular also a member of wikipedia could also be included in this section. This way the most important boxes don't get stuck at the bottom. If anyone wishes to do this feel free to move wiki related boxes to the top under a heading like 'Wiki realted'. I am asking here to seek community approval before making drastic changes. All the best to all of you FalkirksTalk 23:25, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

This page should really be updated. Many things are outdated and should be changed. Skylord wars (talk) 02:23, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
I think it would be better if most userbox templates except userboxes about projects were pages in the template namespace (e.g. Template:User box) instead of subpages of the MCW:Userboxes page (e.g MCW:Userboxes/box). It would save typing at least 9 letters of typing, which would be more convenient. Fadyblok240 (talk) 02:38, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
Arch Linux is one of the most popular distribution of Linux, ranked 63rd on Distrowatch's page hit ranking statistics in the last 12 months (as of April 2024), and EndeavourOS, a distribution based on Arch Linux, also ranked the third on the same statistics.
We should add the userbox for users who are using Arch Linux, and also, for shits-and-giggles, specifically set the text to "{{user}} uses Arch Linux, btw." Outrowed (talk) 23:44, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
RuMCW happens to use a series of userboxes for displaying language proficiency similar to WP:Babel. With the English wiki being more international than the others, such userboxes make more sense here. The problem is choosing an optimal implementation for such infoboxes. β BabylonAS 12:10, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I made a userbox for editors that have met other editors in real life (User:Nerdyguy2000/Userbox/MetIRL), but when you fill out the parameter, it makes a link. How do I put that here without causing any problems? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 14:09, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Proposal to make all userboxes equal height
[edit source]
I want to propose that all userboxes should have the same height. I find the different heights quite annoying (see User:MinecraftExp123#Userboxes), as they sometimes don't align as expected, and as you can see here I literally had to add 5 line breaks just so the "By me" section title displays properly on a new line. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 11:15, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think the height is related to the header. You can use
{{-}} before the header to fix your problem. π Image

- Thanks, I changed my user page, but that doesn't change the fact that the Duolingo userbox displays in the middle, which is a result of the different heights. --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 22:57, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- Not sure how this would be achieved. Sure, it'd be really cool, but how would it be done? -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 23:32, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think, discussing a proper height and either changing
{{userbox}} or using a bot to change all the userboxes (in Category:Userboxes) to match that height, if that's possible (though I'm not sure exactly if it is). --MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 23:40, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm. Maybe changin' the template would work. -~- Nerdyguy2000 Talk Edits 23:41, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- some boxes will have to have their image changed if a uniform height is established. Specifically the village and pillage one, as its image makes the "image square" into a rectangle. aside from ones with tall images, or lots of text, this isnt really an issue on mobile π Image

Specifically how to write the statement, whether to use "ROOTPAGENAME" or "BASEPAGENAME", and how to use params in your userbox (not to be confused with the katana if the Userbox template). -- Simanelix (T|C) 18:03, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
{{ROOTPAGENAME}} is root name of the current page.
- Example: Will return
Test1 on page Test1/Test2/Test3.
{{BASEPAGENAME}} is the root name of the current page, plus its first subpage.
- Example: Will return
Test1/Test2 on page Test1/Test2/Test3.

How do you enter one of these userboxes in visual editor? Qwerty ui 21:11, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- In the visual editor, click Insert in the toolbar and select the Template option. A dialog box will pop up, asking you to enter a template name. Unfortunately, the auto-completion does not work for userboxes (it only works for templates in the Template: namespace), so you have to type in the full name of the userbox. For example, if you want to insert the
{{MCW:Userboxes/mcpreference-javaedition}} userbox, type "MCW:Userboxes/mcpreference-javaedition" into the search box, and press Enter.
- Some userboxes also take additional parameters (they are usually listed in Minecraft Wiki:Userboxes). If that is the case, some numbered text boxes will appear depending on how many parameters the userbox takes -- the box labelled "1" corresponds to the first parameter, the box labelled "2" corresponds to the second parameter and so on. Enter the correct parameter values into each of the boxes. If the userbox does not take any parameters, you do not need to enter in any additional values.
- After you have done this, click the blue Insert button. The userbox should then appear in the visual editor.
- Yes, it's needlessly complicated in my opinion. Ultimately, it might be easier and quicker to just use the source editor to insert userboxes. --Mitsos (talk) 21:34, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- I dont use the source editor because it is too slow. Qwerty ui 17:45, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

- On mine userpage. Furthermore, mine userbox donβt display correctly, can you fix? IronSculkJungle7643 (talk) 20:05, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- You can use the instructions at Template:Userbox/doc and test it on your sandbox using the "Show preview" feature, which previews the template and eases the process. About your userbox, it's because you surrounded it with <nowiki/> elements so it displays as raw text. - RedX (talk) 20:11, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- When adding userboxes, you have to click "edit source" and paste it there. Otherwise the visual editor thinks it's text and adds <nowiki> to prevent the text it turning into userbox. π Image
