An axe is a bladed tool used for cutting wood.
Axes consist primarily of a unique sharp blade, and a long wooden handle.
In addition to being used to cut trees with more efficiency than bare fists, axes can also be used for combat against enemies like endermen.
Axes were weaponized by illagers long ago, fashioned from gold. They also created a special diamond variant and stored it in their loot chamber.
Later on, when the humans stormed the Woodland Mansion, the vindicators chased Henry with them, who later found the diamond axe in the loot chamber and killed an enderman with it, gaining an ender pearl for his troubles, then using it to mine through the floor to reach the men on the second floor.
