Flint and steel are two items appearing in A Minecraft Movie.
The flint and steel consist of two items; a shard of flint and a firestriker made of steel. The former resembles a generic, sharp gray rock, only made of cubes. The firestriker resembles the silhouette of a real tool, only made of cubes as well.
When rubbed together, flint and steel generate a spark, which in turn can start a fire. If used with the correct placement of obsidian, it can generate a portal into the Nether.
While investigating an obsidian gateway, Steve discovered an ancient pair of flint and steel inside of a “conveniently placed chest.” Putting two and two together, he decided to use it to activate the newly repaired portal, leading him straight into a bastion.
