The Great Hogs were a type of piglin artificially created by Malgosha to be an "ultimate weapon", stronger than any other piglin. Two Great Hogs were created, with the second being referred to as the "New Hog",^[1] and both were killed.

The Great Hogs are large piglins, 3–4 meters tall. Their builds are massive and muscular, half of their right arm is replaced with a golden prosthetic arm cannon, from which they shoot pink projectiles. On their face is a metal snout strap with a gold stripe on their head. Their left shoulder is covered in an iron shoulder pad, from which comes a chain with a gold patch resembling a snout. Instead of pants, they have a leather rag, secured with a chained leather belt.

Unlike other important piglins like General Chungus, the Great Hogs do not speak, acting more like vicious beasts. They mindlessly obey the orders given by Malgosha and seemingly do not act unless given an order, as seen when the second Great Hog spectates the battle between iron golems and piglins and only participates when ordered to by Malgosha.

As the strongest piglins in the army, the Great Hogs possess incredible strength, able to take down enemies like an iron golem in a single punch, and they can also use their arm cannons to blast enemies nearby.

At some point in the past, the Great Hog was created “without a brain”, Steve having either encountered it or been informed of its invention during his time in the Nether. After General Chungus fails to execute Malgosha's plan to kill the gang at Midport Village, Malgosha orders various piglins to release the Great Hog from its containment. The Great Hog then kills Chungus by Malgosha's order with its arm cannon.

Later on in the film, the Great Hog hunts Steve, Garrett, and Henry in the Redstone Mines. It chases them into Steve's creeper farm, but they manage to escape via minecarts. As the creepers explode, the Great Hog is left behind in the mine, presumably dying in the explosion. Further on in the film, Steve, Garrett and Henry run out of the woodland mansion onto the bridge outside. They encounter Malgosha, who reveals that she had created a second Great Hog. The second Great Hog growls at them from a distance, hanging and chained to a ghast. The ghast carries it away with Malgosha after she successfully steals the Orb of Dominance from Henry.

At the final battle, the second Great Hog watches idly with Malgosha before she orders it to participate. During the battle, it defeats multiple iron golems and fires a blast from its arm cannon to knock Henry off the large Nether portal, who is saved by Garrett riding a ghast. The second Great Hog then attempts to kill Natalie, but is stopped by the Super Iron Golem. The two have a brief battle, but the second Great Hog is eventually defeated when the Super Iron Golem launches it into the air before slamming it back down into the ground, leaving it to die.

• The name Great Hog was previously used for the final boss of Minecraft Legends, though the character more closely resembles the Unbreakable, and lacks any characterization similar to either.
  • In the novel Return of the Piglins, several piglins are able to earn the title of "Great," such as the Great Bungus and Grungert, potentially indicating that "Great Hog" is another title.
  • Unlike the other piglins, the Great Hog did not zombify, as the green sprouts did not appear on his skin, even when its eyes stopped glowing.
• In the novelization, the second Great Hog doesn’t exist since Malgosha never mentioned getting a new one. Instead, the first Great Hog "somehow survived the creeper explosion in the mines" and appears "on the most elaborate ghast gondola" alongside Malgosha.^[2]
