An iron golem is an inorganic entity being designed to patrol and protect villages from external threats.
These large constructs, coming in at approximately 2.9 meters in height, are humanoid creatures composed mostly of smelted iron. They have broad shoulders and barrel chests, with long blunt arms designed to smack and launch adversaries. Due to their connection to the villagers, iron golems possess heads and faces that resemble that of their creators, with large noses and tall foreheads. Their eyes glow a subtle red coloring behind what appear to be glass or crystalline eye sockets, and they are covered in vines.
Iron golems are generally peaceful and kind creatures, described as "big softies" by Steve himself. While this is true, as iron golems will not go out of their way to attack other creatures, they will however brutally defend both themselves and their creators if either are provoked. While docile, they'll roam and patrol their posts in search of danger.
These golems are created by building a T-shaped structure out of four iron blocks, along with a carved pumpkin placed atop it. Iron golems possess great strength, as they can grab and launch opponents with their massive, long arms. Their iron skin also provides them with natural armor, allowing them to take on great damage to their bodies and still be able to fight and protect.
As Steve gives a brief tour of Midport Village to Henry, Natalie, Garrett Garrison, and Dawn Runcie, an iron golem walks past the group and unintentionally frightens Natalie. Steve immediately reassures her, and explains that the iron golems are the local security force and are big softies, provided that you don't mess with any of the villagers.
When General Chungus and his forces invade Midport Village, the same iron golem along with a few others can be seen fighting off the piglins, including General Chungus.
During Malgosha's invasion of the Overworld, as the piglin forces arm themselves and begin their crusade, Henry and Natalie create an army of iron golems out of blocks of iron and carved pumpkins to help defend against the piglin forces. Malgosha is quick to point out that iron golems will not attack unless provoked. As luck would have it, Travis shoots the Super Iron Golem, which immediately provokes all of them into war, which Malgosha ridicules Travis for as he is launched by the golem to his presumable death.
