A spider is a hostile arthropod, typically appearing jockeyed by a skeleton.

Being massive nocturnal predatory arachnids, coming in at approximately 1.8 meters in length, spiders have dark black chitinous bodies covered in a thin layer of black hair-like filaments. Much like Earth spiders, they possess eight segmented legs, pedipalps, and two large predatory chelicerae with fangs at the ends, but unlike earth spiders, they feature eight glowing red compound eyes. These can be removed and used for an unknown purpose. They are about the same size as a human.

Spiders exhibit predatory instincts and are shown to pursue their prey in chase, possessing both great speed and agility. They have a mutualistic relationship with their skeleton riders.

As Henry, Natalie, Garrett, and Dawn settle into the Overworld, night sets over the landscape. Soon after this, the nocturnal monsters begin to to stir, including a group of spider jockeys whom give chase to the group. One spider jockey pursues at a greater speed than the rest of the tribe, accidentally setting itself up to get shot by one of it's members' flaming arrows, causing an inflamed spider jockey to pile up which kills the majority of the spider jockeys. Later the survivors of this pile up are seen stalking Garrett before exiting the film's narrative permanently.

Additionally, a spider eye can be seen preserved in a jar on a shelf of Steve’s Secret Stash, near the Boots of Swiftness.
