Currently, the page states: "Ghasts will not fire at the player without a line-of-sight, which can be blocked by solid transparent blocks." Does it mean to say that line-of-sight can be blocked by solid OR transparent blocks? Can you block line-of-sight with a glass block? Can you block line-of-sight with a glass pane? Can you block line-of-sight with an iron bar? Thanks for the help. -Howarthe (talk) 06:51, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
If you use a sword to block a ghast fireball, would your sword lose durability?67.160.25.176 22:11, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Swords no longer block. Not important.

I think he means if you hit the fireball back while holding the sword. Mineifications (talk) 23:54, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
I question why this needs to be verified. When you hit a ghast with a fireball, it will take the 6 damage from the impact, but there is also the explosion. Again, I question why this needs to be verified. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Fyreboy5 (talk • contribs) at 13:16, 19 February 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I know a Ghast is 5x4x5, nut I don't know what each of the numbers means. I'm assuming that they are 4 tall, but I don't know -PancakeIdentity (talk) 13:36, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
This may be a bug in 0.15.10 PE-Windows 10, but Ghasts seem to ignore distance from player when spawning. Somewhere else the wiki states no mobs will spawn within 24 blocks of the player. Twice now, I've seen ghasts spawn much close than that (~12-16 blocks). Did anyone else observe this? --67.170.72.40 06:33, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
It has been noted that Ghast sounds have normal drop-off in Pocket edition/windows 10 edition rendering them almost silent at any range beyond melee range. Further investigation for extents of volume falloff may be needed. 86.187.168.70 10:02, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
I stumbled onto this interaction. If you deflect a ghast's fireball while holding a sword with looting then the looting effect will proc on the ghast, allowing you to get up to 2 tears with looting III. I just had it happen twice in a row, so pretty confident about it. Might want to mention this in the main article since it would be pretty helpful for farming tears.–Preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.114.149.132 (talk) at 1:59, 02 June 2018 (UTC). I seem to remember seeing something somewhere that said Ghasts sound louder when they're far away, and quieter when they're up close, but I can't seem to find this on the page. Is this a true fact, or was it true at some point, or did I completely make up information? Weyferling (talk) 09:31, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
Nobody is going to talk about ghasts being nerfed in 1.16 by being only in nether wastes and soul sand valley? Okokup (talk) 04:54, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
Is open bug means ready to fix it, see https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-53383. 180.190.183.111 19:16, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
In Explosion page, the formula for minimum resistance to control an explosion is expressed as . Ghast fireballs are listed to have a power of 1, using the formula, with attenuation steps 1, step length 0.3, the minimum resistance required should be . However, this article specifies that "The minimum blast resistance required to absorb all blast force of the ghast's fireballs is 4.034 (about the equivalent of basalt which is 4.2)."
I have done the check with a wall of furnaces, which have blast resistance of 3.5, and it can resist the fireballs.

Not sure when this change was implemented, but the Ghast Fireball no longer despawns when the launching ghast is killed. This is confirmed as "Works as Intended" in MC-176519 (https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-176519) on the Bug Tracker. 64.30.125.73 00:33, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
The Minecraft Wiki should provide a list of blocks or a minimum blast resistance value for ghast fireballs for nether builds that are not highway tunnels incased in ugly cobblestone boxes. Building things like the Upside Down Nether Village from HermitCraft Season 7 with only ghastproof blocks would make dealing with them a lot less frustrating. However, the closest thing to a ghastproof block list is a brief mentioning of cobblestone in the explosion power section of the Explosion article. The formula is also hidden deep in the effect section with the only practical use mentioned there being how to explode bedrock. Giving the players a complete list would give them a challenge to incorporate the list into their build palate and be confident enough to build massive nether villages and castles that utilize the existing terrain. Not sure if it is worth adding here, but if my memory (And personal experience) isn't failing me, does a deflected fireball count as a player attack, meaning mobs like Zombified Piglins will attack the player if they get hurt by the fireball's explosion. Andre 601 (talk) 22:49, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
Does anyone know why Ghasts have gills? Ghasts kind of look like squid, so does this prove that they might be related? 174.170.70.95 00:18, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
Why is the history table uncomfortably wide on my phone? No other history tables look like that. I think its the file directory thingy. Maybe put a mobile only <br> in it at halfway of it. The table is too big and I cannont easily read it all
My apologies for bad writing and English
Please can you State and test how ghast’s fireball remaining without touch anything block before disappearing number count.
The problem is I was wondering and search google for looking how ghast ‘sfireball long block and time without touch Block before disappear. I don’t see it remaining fireball without touch block before disappearing I couldn’t find ghast’s fireball before disappearing
is there like some weird copyright thing or something stopping them or can i dig up the textures and add them?

This article claims “Blocks with blast resistance as low as 3.5 survive a fireball's explosion”. However, I’m Bedrock edition, a Ghast just blew up my stained terracotta (blast resistance of 4.2). There is inconsistency between these two articles.
This goes for all mobs, but in addition to hitbox size, eye level of the mob should be listed
