Hey Minecraft fans! I have a question. What is the 1.x.y version of 26.1?

--FeedbackBot 20:06, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
It does not exist. This version will be released with the new version numbering system only. –Mitsos [ talk | edits ] 20:08, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

I have a question, why Java Edition 26.1, not Java Edition 26.

--FeedbackBot 18:14, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
Because the number 1 indicates that this is the first drop released in 2026. 26.2 would be the second drop in 2026, 26.3 would be the third, and so on. See Version formats#Release for more information. –Mitsos [ talk | edits ] 18:16, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
Basicly, if it was a hotfix for mounts of mayhem, it would have been 26.0, but since it's a seperate game drop, its 26.1 CrockCraftMC (talk) 16:26, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

A way to reference First Drop 2026

[edit source]
Latest comment: 14 January6 comments4 people in discussion

It's a bit hard to word out "Drop 1 of 2026" nor "the first drop of 2026" for the article itself, however, I found a better wording for this:

26.1 is an upcoming 2026 game drop for Java Edition with no set release date, which adds new textures and models for baby animals, makes name tags craftable, and fixes bugs.

Since Java Edition 26.1 is one of the First Drop 2026 releases, the second one is Bedrock Edition 26.10, I think it'd be better to call it "an upcoming 2026 game drop" rather than, for example, "26.1 is the first drop of 2026 ..." etc. Outrowed (talk) 05:05, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

...what's wrong with having "first drop of 2026" in the article? Lowercase = not A Name.  Nixinova  T β„ C  07:04, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
Well, we can use the placeholder name (and using past practices from major update):
26.1, the release of First Drop 2026, is an upcoming game drop for Java Edition with no set release date, which adds new textures and models for baby animals, makes name tags craftable, and fixes bugs.
Or the official name from BE experimental:
26.1, the release of Drop 1 of 2026, is an upcoming game drop for Java Edition with no set release date, which adds new textures and models for baby animals, makes name tags craftable, and fixes bugs.
I much prefer the first one than the second one, because how natural sounding it is. I have also thought up several ways to craft these sentences with reference to First Drop 2026, e.g., "It is a part of First Drop 2026.", "an upcoming game drop of 2026...", etc.
Though, I don't think we should refer them by title per se, at least in the article's content, because how Mojang have been vaguely referring them as "the next game drop" or "the cutest drop" in their latest video and article. Hence my initial proposal.
Ironically, in the video, they also refer the last year's similar drop as, well, the spring drop, and heck, maybe even this drop too, "And this spring, we are doing something similar ..." Outrowed (talk) 07:41, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
Just "26.1, the first drop of 2026, ..."  Nixinova  T β„ C  10:59, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
"First Drop 2026" is quite literally a placeholder for a placeholder. I still don't understand what people dislike so much about just agreeing with Mojang on this matter, and there simply isn't a way to put "first drop 2026" in a sentence without it sounding wrong. πŸ‘ Image

That kinda sounds redundant, because "26.1" to an extent implies "first drop of 2026". ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 07:52, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

List of currently unchanged baby entity models

[edit source]
Latest comment: 11 February12 comments5 people in discussion

What baby forms have yet to receive a model change, and more importantly, would a list of these be relevant to include at all (or would it fall afoul of speculative or comparative trivia guidelines)? - User-12316399 (talk) 01:13, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

! Updated for snap 10 (Basically, only "special cases" remain, which probably shouldn't be updated.)
All mobs already has a model like 26.1:
All mobs that previously had a quite different baby texture than their adult counterpart:
All mobs that has the NBT age, but has not a baby model.
Notes: Negative-age frogs and zombie nautilus cannot be in love mode. Parrots can also have negative age, but this doesn't seem to affect the game, since it's not possible to put them in love with food. Technically, they are non-baby (isBaby() is false) and non-adult mobs (age <0).
The armor stand, internally the isBaby() method is true if it is small:
Besides the camel husk, which in the 26.1 Snapshot 6 was reversed: they removed its baby model and now it's completely identical to the adult version:
I don't know if this list would fit in any article. Possibly not in this one. Anyway, here it is, and anyone who enters this page can see it.
(Anyone is free to edit the list in this comment) Aloi4 (talk) 08:49, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Would the nautilus not count as an entity which already has a distinct model? I also wonder if non-mob entities such as armor stands should be counted. - User-12316399 (talk) 10:34, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Non-mob entities don't even have babies. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 11:27, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
What do baby armor stands count as then, exactly? - User-12316399 (talk) 12:04, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
It's just a Small NBT tag. It's not determined with the Age or IsBaby tags. ‑‑MinecraftExp123(talk|contribs) 12:09, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
I believe it would make sense to have a baby armor stands if there's a baby player. Especially if the baby player armor models were different.
Currently, there's the scale attribute that makes making the small armor stand somewhat useless, but it was useful when it was released. Aloi4 (talk) 16:04, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Probably yes. The texture of baby nautilus is pretty much "like 26.1" already.
But I only wanted to separate mobs that are very different. Aloi4 (talk) 16:18, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Also, the zombie nautilus page doesn't have a render for a baby version. Do they exist? - User-12316399 (talk) 15:30, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
No, they don't exist. It's not even a camel husk situation where the baby still technically exists with the adult's model and the baby's hitbox, baby zombie nautiluses don't exist at all. --Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 15:39, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
It used to be like that https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC/issues/MC-303036 Daliusite (Talk) 15:49, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
I edit my list by adding categories for mobs with age but not being babies, and for armor stands. I don't see why not include a baby model, even if it's only accessible by /summon and /data. Aloi4 (talk) 06:31, 11 February 2026 (UTC)

List of currently unchanged baby entity sounds

[edit source]
Latest comment: 24 February2 comments2 people in discussion

Much like the above section. Should we have a list of baby mobs whose sounds have been changed, and those whose sounds have not been? - User-12316399 (talk) 17:40, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

I see no point in doing so. Unique sounds for baby mobs are the exception and not the rule, and we should only things that have actually been added or changed. --Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 17:49, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Please mention Vibrant Visuals using Vulkan

[edit source]
Latest comment: 15 March4 comments3 people in discussion

Also, Mention that people WILL start to see Vulkan rolling out side-by-side with OpenGL in snapshots while mojang works to minimize any issues arising from this implementation. Intiha (talk) 17:34, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

why in this page though? vulkan doesn't start getting implemented until the next drop cycle | mariberry-hearn! (talk) 18:22, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
o Intiha (talk) 05:07, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
See Vibrant Visuals Β§ Java Edition. Version pages are usually used to document their own features, Vulkan is never implemented in this version. Outrowed (talk) 19:46, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Small question about semantics

[edit source]
Latest comment: 22 March2 comments1 person in discussion

The page says that Java Edition 26.1 is a game drop. Now I disagree with this, because I think 26.1 is simply a release, while Tiny Takeover is a game drop. Like, the act of opening a door is not the same as a door. Making a door requires wood and craftsmanship. Making a "the acting of opening a door" simply requires you to open the door. Another way to think of it is an attack done with a sword is not the same as a sword. The attack is part of a game mechanic, while the sword is just an item. So, semantically, I don't see how Java Edition 26.1 is a game drop. It is rather the mechanism by which the game drop is released to the world. It's like a box that contains the items being delivered. The game drop is the items, not the box. --β€― β€―Simanelixβ€― β€―(T|C) 18:42, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

My proposal to improve the semantics is to make the following small change:
  • '''26.1''', the release of '''[[Tiny Takeover]]''', </nowiki> is an upcoming [[game drop]] for {{JE}} set to release on March 24, 2026,<ref>{{ytl|Is5IswM87EQ|Minecraft LIVE - March 2026|Minecraft|March 21, 2026|t=1256}}</ref> which adds new textures and models for every baby mob that did not already have a unique model, adds the [[golden dandelion]], makes [[name tag]]s craftable, and fixes bugs.
  • '''26.1''' is the release of '''[[Tiny Takeover]]''', an upcoming <nowiki>[[game drop]] for {{JE}} set to release on March 24, 2026,<ref>{{ytl|Is5IswM87EQ|Minecraft LIVE - March 2026|Minecraft|March 21, 2026|t=1256}}</ref> which adds new textures and models for every baby mob that did not already have a unique model, adds the [[golden dandelion]], makes [[name tag]]s craftable, and fixes bugs.
It functions the same as old sentence, but is now semantically correct. At least, from my perspective. --β€― β€―Simanelixβ€― β€―(T|C) 19:00, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
